Very good effort from the WI in the end. Turned it off in the last 10 overs of the Indian innings to get some sleep instead of watching them lose miserably but delighted the guys put up a fight. Extremely concerned about Dwayne Smith's batting atm. Has he gone past 10 in the last two years or so?

I never asked for stats, Pratyush. I asked for an answer based on common sense and knowledge of the sport. What can a bowler do on such pitches?
Firstly, I do not see how wickets are that flat that they offer nothing at all to the bowlers where most flat wickets are concerned (as I said earlier). Secondly, as a batsman is looking for runs, a bowler can force mistakes by bowling a good line and length, accurately and forcing the batsman and out thinking the batsman. Also, as I said earlier, bowling teams and bowlers wont always manage it but they can on occassions which can be all the difference. In this Australia-New Zealand match for instance, Stuart Clarke took four wickets and gave only 55 runs when his team gave runs at 6.6 runs per over. Stuart Clark nearly won the match for Australia and had say a McGrath been in the team instead of a Mick Lewis, Stuart Clark's performance could well have been a match winning one.

Whatever it takes!!!
A great game to watch.

India’s batting FINALLY came together. Great start from Gambhir (who always looks impressive to me, for some reason or the other. Does throw away starts but doesn’t seem to struggle as much as some of our other openers have done and always scores at a brisk pace, even by current standards) and Ganguly. Lovely to see Ganguly back to his old ways at the top of the order. Sachin played a neat little innings there in the middle and as Dravid has pointed out, the way we played the middle overs as compared to the Windies is probably where we won the match. Dravid and Dhoni blazed to the finish. With Dhoni, you expect such a knock, esp. on such a track and under familiar conditions but Dravid was unbelievable.

The Windies wont lose heart either. They fought all the way, even though they have been out of match practice now while the Indians weren’t. Felt Lara could have batted at 4 rather than 5 (still think Samuels’ innings cost them the game). But, as he himself said, not a bad effort considering they were only off the flight 48 hours ago. This is gonna be one interesting series.

And I have to agree with Liam here. Given the conditions which are loaded in favour of batsmen, and given that none of our benched bowlers are exactly world class, why take a risk and pick them? After all, a Joginder could go for the same 70-80 as a Sachin on such tracks. I would rather keep the same side and maybe pick Joginder instead of AA, perhaps….

It's good to see Akhtar sent home, even though it may be with injury he shouldn't be there in the first place tbh

Indian coach Greg Chappell was attacked at the Bhubaneshwar Airport on Monday. An unidentified man slapped Chappell outside the Airport...

...Maharana was angry at the non-inclusion of Orissa players in the national team.

"There are players like Debashish Mohanty and Shiv Sunder Das from Orissa who are not in the Indian team. That is why I attacked Chappell," Maharana said after he was arrested.

Haha. So Chappell is anti-Orissa now. Good stuff.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
338-3 -- back on home pitches, FLAT as pancakes - they ALL look like geniuses...amazing

None of the quaking against real fast bowling on regular overseas wickets...

except for Mr. Tendulkar (puke)

Never actually had the displeasure of reading one of your posts before I came into this thread.

Basically, it'd be great if you were hit by a bus and your body was then barbecued by a pack of homeless people. Doesn't matter if the bus doesn't kill you. Kthxbye.

Lol, FFS people like that need to be put up against a wall and just have 10 people peg him with tomatoes for 20 straight minutes. What an idiot.

And more to the point, when did Mohanty start deserving to play international cricket then?

Wouldn't it be more appropriate for him to express his displeasure at the selectors? But I guess no one cares if you sucker punch Vengsarkar.

Another low for an Indian fan. We are getting worse with every series.
Yeah but I am not sure at this instance it was technically an emotional Indian fan. I just scanned through the news but he was from some political party or some thing I think and it was done to get some sort of mileage more than any thing.

Which channel(s) is the series being broadcast in India btw? Ten Sports; Ten Sports and DD Sports or some other channel(s)?
