This shows your lack of knowledge about ODI cricket in general. ZIM, SL and few other countries line Canada wer playing ODI's since 1975. So why only talk about Murali? Why don't you reduce wickets taken by Lillie and Thompson against these sides and recalculate their stats too. Too much bias it seems.I'm suprised people don't talk more about Murali taking wickets off lesser sides ala Bangladesh when it comes to ODI's. People beat that horse deader than dead when talking about his performances in Tests, but there's a far greater disparity between Murali's performances against New Zealand, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe than there is against the rest in ODI's. Take those three sides out of the Murali ODI equation and his figures change far more drastically than most people realise.
Warne is not the best ODI spinner. Murali, Saqlain and Kumble are better than him in the ODIs. In tests he and Murali are in seperable.Really Really surprising Warne is that low. Not only does he sport the kind of figures that should see him up the top but he has a better WC record then most, if not all, up there. His amazing heroics in finals are legend as well.
What a bizarre post. Yes, Canada (as East Africa) have played since the 70s but the numbers of games played by the lesser nations was far smaller. This shows your lack of knowledge about ODI cricket in general. Muralitharan and Saqlain are better than Warne in ODI cricket, definitely. Kumble, however, is nowhere near as good as Warne. Statistically far inferior, in World Cups too.Warne is not the best ODI spinner. Murali, Saqlain and Kumble are better than him in the ODIs. In tests he and Murali are in seperable.
De Villiers > HadleeMy ODI top ten would be,
1. Wasim Akram
2. Muttiah Muralidaran
3. Waqar Younus
4. Joel Garner
5. Glenn McGrath
6. Saqlain Mushtaq
7. Curtley Ambrose
8. Shaun Pollock
9. Allan Donald
10. Fanie De Villiers
I tried hard to include Walsh, Hadlee and Kapil Dev, but the above ten have done a lot. De Villiers had a short career but he did enough in that career to trouble every single batsman he bowled to, and has a wonderful ER, SR and Average. I also liked to add Gavin Larsen, the master of line and length, but there were many that I rated above him.
canada did not play as east africa Zimbabwe was known as east africa. Sri Lanka was also a minnow by then. I took Lillie and Thommo as an example, because they were the main threats for minnow sides during world cups. What a bizarre post. Yes, Canada (as East Africa) have played since the 70s but the numbers of games played by the lesser nations was far smaller.
And then to call-out Lillee (or Lillie) shows no clue of Lillees career. Lazy post without any substance.
Lillee played few games against 'minnows' (5 in total) and his average when these games are taken out is an incredible 19.58
Hardly backs up the point that was trying to be made
No chance. How are they better at all? Murali and Warne are the best spinners in ODI. Their overall records are similar but performance in World Cups, especially finals, Warne blows Murali, and most other bowlers, out of the water. You could put Warne at the top of all ODI bowlers, let alone just spinners.Warne is not the best ODI spinner. Murali, Saqlain and Kumble are better than him in the ODIs. In tests he and Murali are in seperable.
You could, but you'd be wrong .You could put Warne at the top of all ODI bowlers, let alone just spinners.
Yeh he's up there for mine. Not far away at all.Brad Hogg - has a better ODI SR than Shane Warne, true story.
Why would you be wrong? Any moreso than any other bowler? You could, but you'd be wrong .
