Your Special Abilities

Bowling:

Very good at leg spin, especially the top spinner. Length is where I mess up though. Average at off spin.

Good line and length, while bowling medium pace. An exceptional slower ball, sort of a leg cutter/break, which sometimes turns viciously, yes viciously.

Can generate a good pace if I bowl express fast, but can't maintain a line while doing that.

Can bowl left-handed as well, chinaman, as well as medium pace, and that too effectively with a good line and importantly length as well.

Batting:

Initially I started a batsman, but to be honest I've lost the touch in the last 3-4 years. I still bat at number 3 or 4, but am not as reliable as I used to be.

I've an excellent straight drive, which fortunately still exists with me, not the sort that Tendulkar hits along the ground, but an aerial with enough power to clear the field.

I'm quite good on the leg side, not in the sort of wristy way Laxman is, but with cross batted shots.

I'm extremly quick between the wickets, something that I'm very proud of.

I'm horrible at the late cut, I can't say I've pulled off even one perfect late cut thus far.

I can bat left-handed as well, but am not as effective as bowling left-handed.

Me and Neil.

We're happy to admit our lack of ability!

Mind you, I must admit I have the ability to watch the game with a beer in hand, and not many people can beat me at that! ;)

Sshhhhh.......this may be the only time in our sad little lives that people think we are any good.

Batting

Very technical middle order batsman, plays best in the V and thrives in a crisis situation.. I got compared to Tom Graveney by a coach, whoever Tom Graveney is.. Shame I look good but can't score that volume of runs! Few fifties and a couple of eighties this season though...

Bowling

Leg spinner, good accuracy and flight but not a great turner of the ball.. I trialled for Somerset last year without success, oh well there is always winter nets to really work on things..

Opening bowlers got injured so I have been filling in with fast medium for much of the season.. I get advantage in both traits from height..

My worst issues are mentally.. I have very little confidance in my ability, and am a hard guy to captain because of it. There always seems to be something wrong and it plays on the mind..

Have a brilliant throwing arm and ground coverage but am not a great catcher of the cricket ball..

haha, yeah me. I think the grade played should be mentioned possibly, so it can be taken in context.

ah ok, you guys play in the Northern Division then. I think they play a few crossover games now so maybe we'll play against each other this year.

Be interested as to why Craig dug this up.
Was it just something you fancied "puffing-out-the-chest" as Corey puts it?
Anyway, for me: my sole claim to fame is that I can bowl an outswinger-to-the-right-hander that goes a long way. It usually goes very early, it hardly ever goes the other way (and when it does it's not through my choice), I'm not very good at bowling lots of them on a length full enough for it to move and often get carted through square-leg, I bowl in the early 70s (mph) at the absolute quickest, and I can't often lay a bat on the ball when it comes at much more than 40mph.
I can usually take a ball cleanly once it comes anywhere near my hands and I can chase down balls pretty effectively. I can't throw very far or very flat and I'm not great at reaching stuff a long way out of my reach, or at reacting when standing close to the bat.
So sums-up my cricketing abilities.
As shown by my two 8-fors (one in 4 overs), I can occasionally be totally devestating when I hit the right length consistently and the batting isn't very good. But a better reflection is my most recent spell (2-0-25-0).

The fact I can bow left and right handed and land the ball while bowling left handed?

Hey not many people I know of can do it.

Batting

well started off cricketing life as a right hander(when i was like 5 or 6) stopped playing for 6 years and came back as a leftie.have the potential to be a good middle order batsman.usually bat 5 to 8.not very good on the off side but what do u expect from someone whu never had coaching.can punish anything on leg.anything not full and not outside off will most likely be hit for 4.

performance this season
school:U-14
no of games:5
innings:5
batting order:gm1:6 gm2:5 gm3:7 gm4:8 gm5:6
scores:gm1:12 gm2:0 gm3:0(was clearly hit outside leg)gm4:14 gm5:17

school:U-19
no of games:3
innings:almost 1
batting order:specialist 12th man/scorer/cheer leader
almost got to start but the match was rained out

club:U-15
no of games:4(one was a special game against an english county team)
innings:4 out of possible 5
batting order:gm1:5 gm2:did not make batting 11(becuz of darn players from out of club)gm3:23 gm4inn1:0 inn2:0
scores:gm1:5

Bowling
started off as a medium pacer but kinda lost it after some personal problems.not the quickest thing out there but aggressive as a woman whu hasnt been paid child support(really aggressive).master of the short ball which means i go for alot of runs.if i get a nice hard wicket the ball would not just hit the pitch and start to go down leg.recently starting to try spin.

performance this season

school:U-14
did not bowl a stinking over even though im captain.

School:U-19
the coaches dont kno im a bowler

Club:U-15
overs:7(yes seven.i said i didnt bowl well this season)
wickets:2
runs:49
i have alot of bowling promise i just have to concentrate.

Fielding

well what can i say im really quick, have a strong arm and can take most catches.great anywhere where my quickness can be used.reactions close to the bat not that good though.i can hold a few in the slips.i can hit the stumps from fine leg third man deep mid on or off and probably square.batsmen tend to avoid me and if they do and the ball looks like a boundary change ur mind cuz ill stop it.i use the sliding long barrier as my special fielding technique it can stop almost any shot along the ground.

Tom Halsey

International Coach
Bowling: Huge turner of the ball, and my variations are hard to pick - the problem is that when I get it wrong it gets sprayed.

Batting: Handy lower order slogger, but nothing much more. Can pinch hit if we are behind the 8-ball.

Fielding: Handy close catcher, and have a good arm - I usually hit the stumps.

Hey not many people I know of can do it.
That brings the number I know who can do it up to 2.
A guy called Naj Choudhary at my club can land the ball left-handed.
He even bowls it in games occasionally.
His right-arm stuff contains about 3 different actions, 7 or 8 different deliveries (outswinger, inswinger, leg-break, off-break, googly, left-arm googly, left-arm-off-break-to-the-left-hander, plus a few others of his own invention) and several different run-ups.
Ah, if only he was more accurate.
But he prefers to concentrate on his batting. ;)
