as tim said, cairns has never really been very consistenttooextracool said:doubt it, its been fairly obvious that cairns hasnt been performing as consistently as he was earlier with the bat. with regard to the ball, his ER has really been miserable for all of the last 3 years.
Cairns is in the best ODI form of his career...bryce said:as tim said, cairns has never really been very consistent
yes, but it still doesnt change the fact that hes been performing below his best off late.bryce said:as tim said, cairns has never really been very consistent
his rpo in his last 20 odi's that you were referring to is 4.24tooextracool said:and of course it isnt surprising that his ER has been poor(given that thats what really matters in ODI cricket anyways)
i don't know about you but i don't classify three out of 20 wickets as manytooextracool said:and that hes taken many of those wickets against bdesh.
no, if you take 2/50 from 8 overs, you maybe averaging 25, but those are still poor figures.Tim said:ER isn't much of a concern if you're taking wickets...it does become an issue if you're not.
rubbish, well done in manipulating stats.bryce said:his rpo in his last 20 odi's that you were referring to is 4.24
its actually 4 if you count the game against USA, not many but still more than enough to raise his average from 23 to 26 this year. it also raises his ER dramatically as shown above.bryce said:i don't know about you but i don't classify three out of 20 wickets as many
grab a calculator and have a look at the bottom of this page and work out his rpo in his last 20 odi's from there(the last ODI in the pakistani series he went for 16 off three overs)tooextracool said:rubbish, well done in manipulating stats.
cairns had an ER of 5.89 in 2003, extremely poor by any standards.
in 2004, he had an ER of 4.89(not including performances against bangladesh and USA), again far from acceptable especially considering that he got seamer friendly conditions for the large part in england. where you come up with this 4.24 figure i'll never know.
nope it's still three....tooextracool said:its actually 4 if you count the game against USA

except that 20 ODIs conveniently includes 3 games against b'desh, 1 game against canada, and the whole of the natwest series that was played in seamer freindly conditions and ignores both series vs pak where he was extremely poor. if you look at his ER in 04, which gives a more accurate description of how well hes bowled, he has an ER of 4.89(not including games against b'desh and USA) which isnt very goodbryce said:grab a calculator and have a look at the bottom of this page and work out his rpo in his last 20 odi's from there(the last ODI in the pakistani series he went for 16 off three overs)
and you'll see where i got it from, i think you should end up with 517 runs from 122 overs which equals 4.24 rpo
how is it still 3? he played 3 against b'desh(0/5, 2/15, 1/21) and one against the USA and 3+ 1 = 4!!bryce said:nope it's still three....
its actually 4.89, as ive shown above. regardless the only reason his career ER is 4.72 is because hes been expensive over the last 2 years(went at 5.89 in 03!). in early 2000, his ER was below 4.60 and in mid 98 it was 4.50bryce said:and if you want to take away performances against bangladesh and usa(which i'm sure you do) it equates to 4.75 rpo - about his career rpo
