CEO... Mental tougness is one important factor but its not the only thing that differentiate one team from another.
I venture to suggest that if it were, India would have a smaller chance of victory than they do.

I agree.
And I also add, that if it were as strong as Pak or Aus or SA, then with the talent on hand, they'd win a LOT more than they currently do !

I tell you a Psychiatrist//Psychologist will help this & most other teams TREMENDOUSLY !

Anyways, the truth is, all teams are on an almost level playing field, and I believe the South Africans & Australians have a slight edge....
The South Africans cannot be clubbed with the Aussies based on their recent performances and the way they huffed and puffed their way to a win against WI suggests that atleast for now, they must be clubbed together with England and India. If anything, SL has to be ranked above SA in this tournament and their semi against Aus looks like a virtual final right now.

The truth is that nobody can be clubbed with the Aussies. However i do think that SA remains the second best team, if SL beat them than u can say that Lanka are the second best in this tour BUT just coz SA didn't beat WI convincingly doesn't mean that they aren't the second best.

India had a psychiatrist for the team before, it never worked.

I think India doesn't need them, they used chookers but now thinks are changing THANKS to the new commers. The good think about the NAtwest trophy victory was that Tendulkar had little to do with the bat and the newcommer in Kaif/Yuvraj lead India to a fantastic win.Surely this must be a tonic for the team, Tendulkar and Co knows that even if they fails, it won't be the end for the team, this i believe will remove undue pressure off Tendulkar!

I made that statement for the reasons given below:

1) SL recently beat SA in Morocco very convincingly.

2) When you compare their performance in this tournament, SL has been far more impressive.

3) SL has the home advantage and has an excellent record in one dayers at home.

However, I do realise that one day form is very fickle(witness SL's pathetic performance in England and the magical transformation in Morocco) and can change from one day to the next. This is just what I believe to be a reasonable assessment.

Not so long ago, SL were in all sorts of disarray. For that reason, I don't think you can place them that highly at the moment.

If you read the latter part of my previous post very carefully, you will see that I have acknowledged your first sentence to be true. I also admitted that one day form is very fickle. I also listed out the reasons based on some facts why I rate SL highly for this tournament. If you think none of those are reasonable, then I really don't know what to tell you. However, I still stand by what I said.

By the current form Aus look miles ahead of the pack, and SL are next.SA looked rusty.More will be seen as the torunament progresses.

No harm done. Anyway, I don't agree with your post for the reasons given earlier. So, it is still relevant.

Even if I hadn't had a chance to review your post when sending mine!

It is nice to not be debating India for a chnage isn't it? 8D

So, does that mean you agree with my observation?

It is nice to not be debating India for a chnage isn't it?
Why? tired of the topic? I'm not. No matches involving India right now, that's why I am desisting. By the way, LE and Scorpio have not been seen for the last couple of days. Are they fighting some duel or something to settle their differences? :D

I just feel that when we start debating India, there is less rational debate and more fervent nationalism involved, so it can get a bit messy.

LE is on holiday, and Scorpio seems to have just disappeared!

1. SA practically is better than SL and all past records & future records will prove it.
2. SL like India has heaps of talent but lack killer instinct
3. SA HAS TO BE on par with Aus. & their unconvincing win over WI can be compared to how Brazil started a tournament.
- SA do not have a Tendulkar or Murli or Warne, they're mechanical & as they progress they improve. Every motorbike machine needs some smooth pickup before it can get going.
4. I agree with Warrior & so would most of us, the Newcomers in the Indian team did more than what a psychiatrist would, and if they continue to have those 3-5 guys, they'll remain a World-beater.
5. Considering the Natwest final between Eng//Ind. it seems both are World-beaters.
And both have their trumps in just the batting dept.
6. Kumble by me is perhaps the most OVERRATED cricketer in the world.
