You know what really grinds my cricketing gears?

What really grinds my gears also is batsman who snick the ball to the keeper or in the case of Lara to a slipsfieldsman and then doesn't walk, it's one thing to stay if the batsman isn't sure what happened but when they even lie to themselves I get angry, even if its an Aussie that does it because that just isn't on and shames my country. Lara did it before reaching double figures, the Umpire should have been banned forever from test matches for not giving Lara out as well. In the end Lara got 277 and Australia's chance of beating the West Indies in over a decade was gone. I never really forgave Lara for that. I wonder why it was so quickly forgotten. Am I the only one here who remembers that occasion ?.. I have never seen a bigger nick than that one that wasn't given out. Umpire was pathetic, Can't remember who that was now.

Man why do you hate Lara so much. The **** is a beast, most attractive of the great batsmen of this generation.

It isn't hate, I just have a bit less respect for him for that occasion in Sydney. I wanted Waugh to bat on and on, I think he was incredibly unlucky to get out at 199 because it had been a brilliant innings as Lara's was. We were always going to beat the Windies there so I was hoping Waugh would go past that 200 of Lara's. I have no problem with Lara apart from that Sydney test and him not trying to win that test match where he stayed on and on for that 400. Apart from those times I have no beef with him. At that time Waugh and Lara were easily the best batsman around but then Tendulkar went past both of them. If I really hated Lara I wouldn't publicly state that he was a better batsman than Viv was, and the stats prove that too. To me its a toss up between Lara and Sobers as to who was the greatest West Indian batsman, maybe Viv is #3.

Should "of"

Yeah I know it's not exactly cricket related but god , there's few things that annoy me more than when I see someone using that. I'm not even a major grammar nazi or anything, but those two words together are just so wrong it pisses me off to no end.

What'd he do at the Sydney test that made you dislike him?
He stayed put at the crease knowing full well he had just been caught by a very obvious thick edge and the idiot umpire didn't give him out. lara had scored less than 10 runs at the time, everyone at the time knew Lara was out, the edge was thick and it was caught very very wide of the wicket. No ball suddenly flies off at an angle like that. Most forgot the incident after he made 277 NO but I never forgot it, never forgave the umpire for that, still easily the most incompetent umpire decision I have seen in 35 years. All the highlight packages conveniently leave the incident out, I know because I checked it today.Obviously you had to have seen the whole test to know of it.

You dislike anyone who doesn't walk?

You mean when West Indies had lost every match in the series? A draw would be a god sent at that point imo. They then bowled England out and put them back in and tried for the match. They'd used up just over 2 days. But he'd scored at almost 70 strike rate. Didn't muck around. I completely have the lads back for the decision to bat on.

Brian Lara should have been out for single figures but went on to make 277 NO and you complain? You obviously wasn't there because I assure you that watching Brian Lara make big scores is one of the most exhilarating things I have ever seen. I saw him score two test hundreds and at no time did I want my beloved England team to get him out. Live the dream!

Just automate the front-foot line ffs... It's getting to be a farce

This.

I don't get how an umpire can be expected to look down first while a bowler is bowling 150km/h to check the no ball. There's just too much going on in too short a space of time.

It could very easily be automated. Just get some **** on the sidelines to check it every ball. He can make a quick, instant decision with a camera which would be available within 2 seconds of the ball having been bowled.

Or we could do what they've done for the past few centuries and just checked for the no ball at the time of delivery. Crazy I know.

What really grinds my gears is when test batsmen get out for 199 a day after Lara gets 200...... OH WHY STEVE,..... WHYYYYYYYYY ??.... 199..... Still the biggest disappointing moment I remember, he had played so well up to that point.
Renowned walker, was SR Waugh, yes.

Especially when Lara became a regular walker later in his career, seems ridiculous to pin something like that on him all the time.
