Luckyeddie has far too much to say for himself. Most of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is crap. I spose when your an england fan you get that way when trying to make excusses for their average side who always dissapoints. I would have to say the worst cricketer to play test cricket would be Bruce Morrison
Richard, darling. So good to hear from you again. I do hope that you and your lovely pet sheep are keeping well down there in Wellington. What was her name, sparky, spoffy, oh no, Spofta. That was it. Boy, she's a looker, that one. You ought to enter her (no pun intended) in shows.

Thats a bit harsh i think i had a valid point i mean its fair to say england have been pretty mediocore in the last decade. For a country that has among the best facilities and resources in the world to not make the top 6 nations at the last two world cups and not set the world on fire in the test arena either is a discrace while other countries like Sri Lanka continue to punch above their weight. What do u put their poor results down to over the last 10 years eddie.

No harsher than your original post, Richard.

If you can't take a reply, don't set out the flame in the first place!

Richard - I really am very nice (for a grumpy old man) and I'm sincerely flattered by your assertion that only 'some' of what comes out of my mouth is crap - ipso facto some of it isn't.

You really do know something about cricket too, which I must confess did surprise me (some of your earlier postings were a little light on fact, to say the least). And of course I'm just pulling your leg about Spofta, sheep and the like. I never even mentioned Wellington and the 'unfortunate' connection boots going by that name have with sheep (and Welsh farmers), so I couldn't have been too serious. Most of the sheep-sha sorry, New Zealanders on Cricket Web have felt the sharp edge of my rapier-like wit, but they humour me. Treat me like a senile old great-uncle, wipe my chin when I dribble, that sort of thing.

What do I put England's results down to over the last 10 years? Apart from just being plain crap, you mean? Organisation and spirit, top to bottom. That's a serious reply, so you can rightly feel flattered in extracting one from me. The best signing England have made is that of Rod Marsh, because he's instilled an element of attitude and pride in the side. The league tables don't lie - a few years ago, England really were the worst test side in the world. Hussain was a superb appointment as captain too, because he was visible - and that's what players required. The worst thing they can do is congratulate themselves about what they've achieved in recent years, because second is still nowhere so fourth, fifth, sixth - wherever they are placed now - is doubly so.

How was Mike Smith anywhere near as bad as Dawson/Schofield/Sailsbury/Sidebottom? He was a quality swing bowler.
we're looking at players at the international level, not at county level. so i dont think it matters if he scored more centuries than jack hobbs at county level, if he made a complete fool of himself at the international level he deserves to be considered as one of the worst players ever.

The former captain of the United Arab Emirates?
Can't remember his name, but I seem to recall he came out to bat against a reasonable quick without a helmet and got sconed in the 96? World Cup?

He did. It was Thorpe, and he dropped Elliott, which would have left Aus on 56-5. And thus did the Ashes disappear.

Cheers,

Mike
But was it a good ball? That is, would he have deserved the wicket?

Sultan Zarwani was only in the UAE team because he was wealthy/family connections..

Symmo (Pat Symcox) got stuck in and told him to **** off back to his wives and flash cars, some of the SA people told Donald to calm down because the guy didnt know what he was doing, and the rest is history... AD initially thought he had killed him outright when he hit him, but thankfully he came around.. Pretty odd incident...

As for Mike Smith... He is a good bowler, definitely not worthy of the worst test player ever.. One of the unluckiest maybe..
