Edinbrugh's Season Summation
It's been a wild and wooly time for the (very few) supporters of Edinbrugh Cricket Club, with the constant chopping and changing of managers, the infamous "hot dog with skirt" date rape scandal, and more late night binges than a cricket tour hosted by Andrew Symonds.
Since Jack McNamara took over as manager, real concerns emerged over the direction of the club, with individual performances managing to keep his side competitive as opposed to the team efforts that are required to be successful - something that was seen regularly before his arrival.
"I'm prepared to accept responsibility for the lesser performance of the team during my time as coach" McNamara said. "I think that not all the players were suited to my style of individual development, seeking to create a fuller player out of everyone. Someone like Otis McBain really did prosper especially in the OD format which he traditionally hasn't been strong in, but the Frank Drinkell's of the world really did prefer the more generic, less scientific methods that were provided by previous coaches. I believe that I can take something out of this as I try and gain a spot in the big league."
McNamara, speaking through a tin can phone after his infamous run in with the administration of his club, was also very positive in his outlook for next season, despite the collapse of the side's fortunes under him.
Unfortunately, the players could not profess the same committment with none wishing to commit to a contract till they field offers from other clubs. This is clearly a reflection of the dissatisfaction in a side who only managed two wins in either form of the game in the last 8 matches of the season, despite making the CW Bar Cup Third Round.
