id be 50/50 on it, i wouldnt worry me personally i just think we would have a problem enforcing it and in all reality we wouldnt be able to enforce any penalties that would make it worth while...
Agreed. Considering most trade talk is done on MSN.

Perhaps if managers had to sign players up to contracts, and there was a salary cap invovled, there could be penalties etc. However, I think having to cut 6 players from your squad and their being a draft order, ensures that teams don't hang on to all the good players all the time. I think the system is fine as it is atm. Perhaps if the CW Bar Cup was run at the latter end of the season or as an off-season event it would keep interest high towards the end of the season.

Well you could have penalties such as a lower draft position, if you really wanted to add this. You break the rules/guidelines then you loss 2 draft position.

i agree with MR W about the whole contract thing, if for some crazy reason you wanted to put a stop to it then fine... But people love trades and it's a big part of WCC and it'd detract from it if we couldn't talk about it

draft position only seems to ever matter in the first round and sometimes second rounds. furthermore, the teams in higher positions wouldn't be to worried about where they end up in the draft, hence they wouldn't care. so they would flaunt whatever rules that were place, without too much to fear

For those who dont usually check out other teams scores.. I suggest you all look at the Guyana-Jamaica scorecard... Guyana's 1st innings... Won't spoil it...

Oh well not the greatest start for Kent, innings defeat to Lancs. Luckly it a long season, hopefully we do better in the next round.

Terrible start for Surrey, losing by 9 wickets to Surrey, we didn't make 200 in an innings.
Good start for my bowlers! :)

Comprehensive 9 wicket win there, also good to see SA could only manage a draw after Queensland's huge first innings.

well only playing 3 front line bowlers hurt, we made a decent enough score with the bat, could have been a worse result given we couldnt win afterthe first innings...

Dissapointing loss after only needing 174 to win to fall 2 runs short.
it was a pretty unbelievable comeback i thought, the win was only made possible from a unlikely 9th wicket partnership of 121 between allrounder bradshaw(103 batting at eight) and singh(48), while the barbados bowlers also made a great comeback in the second innings after a poor first innings display(aswell as quality top order batting by northerns) by dismissing them a mere two runs short of the barbados total.
had to get ya back for the one dayer :)

Division 5 - Four Day - Round 2 Preview

The division five four day competition continues again this weekend with some crucial early games. The first game of the weekend sees Guyana host fierce rivals Free State. This will be a battle between the batting powers of Guyana versus the bowling might of Free State. Both teams had impressive first round victories, with the Guyana side breaking batting records in their thumping victory over Jamaica, while Free State had a very comfortable victory over Mashonaland with their bowlers leading the way not letting their openents reach 200 in either of their innings. The tip is for Guyana, but this will be a close one, with Guyana given the advantage due to the game being played on their territory, but with the sides evenly matched anything could happen.

The second game has Leicestershire at home to Jamaica. Leicestershire beat Northern Districts in round one in a closer than expected game, and Jamaica were thoroughly thrashed by Guyana. Jamaica have the ability to get themselves off the canvas and give Leicestershire a competitve match, and will need to do so, so they don't fall behind too early in the season. However, it is felt again that Leicestershire have too many weapons in their side with both bat and ball. Leicestershire to get this one and go two for two for the season.

Mashonaland host Northern Districts in the last game for round two. This game is anyone's guess, if Northern Districts' top order can fire they have a chance of winning this one, they will again will rely on Holland to score the bulk of the runs and if he can do so Northern Districts are a big chance. Mashonaland are not without their hopes though, allthough the did not fire in round one, they were outclassed by an intimidating Free State bowling attack, they have every chance of beating Northern Districs. However, Northern Districts with their batting strength should be able to give new Mashonaland manager more headaches.

This week's tips are for Guyana, Leicestershire and Northern Districs, but as we have seen before anything can happen in division five and no team is assured of victory.

Division 5 - One Day - Round 3 Preview

The division five one day competition will have only one undefeated team at the end of round three. Western Province host Karachi in the top of the table clash that has the two most impressive sides facing each other to see who gets the early advantage in season six. Western Province have been led by Birch and Schofield who are both averaging over 100 and Tate who is averaging only 16.50 with the ball. Western Provinces abilities with the bat will be tested by the impressive Karachi bowlers with Louw and Elstub both averaging well under 20. This is a tough one to pick, but with Western Province having the home ground advantage and their batsman in great form, they should get up.

Early wooden spoon canidates Northern Districts host Guyana in another important game. If Northern Districts do not win they will be fighting an uphill battle to be in the promotion contention come the end of the season, and if Guyana do not win they will lose touch with leaders Western Province and Karachi and can not afford to do so. If Guyana can get Holland early it is hard to see Northern Districts putting on a good score. Guyana will be looking to hit back hard after losing to Free State in the four day competition. Guyana should get this one as they travel away from home for the first time this season.

Mashonaland host Tasmania in the last game of the round. Tasmania will need to win to keep in touch with the table leaders and Mashonaland need a win to get their season off the ground. Mashonaland will need to put on a big score to give their impressive bowlers the time to charge at he Tasmanian batsman or bowl Tasmania out cheaply. However, either scenario will not equate to a gift win as Tasmania's bowlers have been the most impressive of the division. Mashonaland should get their season started with a win over Tasmania, but all will depend on how their batsman can handle the Tasmanian bowlers.

Western Province, Guyana and Mashonaland should be in the winner's circle this round and it will leave an interesting table if this is the case.
