and hes not exactly set the world on fire with his performances at 3 either. which is why i dont see any reason why he would be significantly worse off if he opened the batting, given that lara and sarwan the 2 more capable batsmen get to bat in position.

Well I wouldn't be too surprised to see him open in The VB Series and fail miserably.
Until then we can only wait and see.
