So , basically you are giving no credit to Pujara, Pant for scoring those runs .

I will write something angrily which will make you even more angry . So I am just ending this topic here.
You can write whatever you want but you honestly think this Indian team would beat Taylor's in Australia? Like seriously?!!

Sounds a lot like nostalgia bias tbh. You can't just say these names are better because I said so and walk off.
Nostalgia bias? We've literally had polls after polls ranking the top whatever bowlers and Donald, Pollock, Wasim, Waqar, Ambrose and Walsh have consistently featured in the top 25 or so. Maybe our polls got it wrong. Maybe Shami, Yadav, are actually better. My bad. Bumrah is class though. I respect that man.

Every other team besides India still gets massacred in Australia. At home, the pace attack is as good and the batting is stacked too. The only real improvement is Warne over Lyon and we know how Warne did against India. Reiffel, Fleming etc are journeymen and Haze is easily as good as Gillespie. Cummins is McGrath V2.0.

How can you say that given how Khwaja performed in the SC this year?
Because Usman is still a work in progress. He did well recently in Asia and credit where it's due but his record overseas overall still leaves a lot to be desired. Smith is already a proven commodity.

Again, repeating names instead of providing data and context of performances to compare against each other.

Yeah but Warne won't be bowling to India so that's moot. He'd be bowling to Warner and co. And it's not as if I said Taylor's team would crush them or anything like that. I believe Taylor's team would win 2-1. Taylor's team didn't crush the likes of WI and Pakistan in Australia so I doubt they'd crush Cummins' team. But Cummins' team has lost at home recently, while Taylor never did.

What part of "IN" Australia don't you get....
Considering that Indian team of 90s never faced Taylor’s side in Aus , how can I predict man ? We faced Waugh side in 99 which had become beast after arrival of Gilchrist and lost 3-0 and that side was ATG
But I can say this about Smith/ Cummins side , they are the only team that gave India real scare in last 10 years at home .

And I don’t rate Taylor’s side highly because they couldn’t win even 1 match in 96 tour ( Test + ODI Tri series involving SA )

Maybe I am biased towards this Australian side because how they have played vs IND in IND vs Taylor’s side which was extremely underwhelming.

I mean you'd have a better case if you put into context how good or bad certain sides in the past were compared to modern day ones rather than just saying they never lost so they'll never lose to a better team than they faced before.

Taylor's side. Again, this better be a joke. Taylor's team beat South Africa, West Indies, and Pakistan teams whose bowling were on par with current Australia. Then this lineup would be at sea imo vs McGrath, particularly the left handers. And then there's Warne...
in a 10 match series, the current aus side would not win a single game.

Taylor's team beat teams with better attacks in Australia. For example, Australia beat Pakistan that consistently had Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain and Mustaq. Ditto the WI who had Walsh, Bishop and Curtly. If those teams couldn't win in Australia vs Taylor, I doubt India's current team would.

That's the key here I'm talking about in Australia.
aus have this man. if india played a test right now, surely he would've started in the XI, given the indian's weaknesses to very fast bowling.

Overall dont see india beating australia. given the above. Also india's bumrah is injured.

Nothing wrong with the way you feel. The reason I don't particularly rate this Aus team vs Taylor's isn't just because they lost to India. It's because of how they did. They lost with most of India's main players out. They lost even though India's fielding was atrocious. They lost vs what was on paper, a weaker batting and bowling team. They lost after bowling out India for 36.

Credit to India for their win but that Indian team then went on to lose 1-2 in RSA to put things in perspective.

My point? Cummins' team over 5 tests would be facing great batting, bowling and fielding in Taylor’s team. And a team who's faced similarly strong bowling (WI, Pak).

I hope you understand my responses are mostly geared towards the OP of which team would most likelt win a 5 test series in Australia.

Considering the result of this poll , most of the people agree with you .
Still feel current Aussie side is being under-rated here considering they have a very good bowling line up and an ATG bat , a batsman who is batting now like ATG bat and decent support batsmen.

Khawaja is on the verge of a decline given his age. Terrific slow wicket player though. Not really surprising he hasn’t performed against the SA attack given the pace they bowl at

Tbf to Taylor’s side. that was a one off test, assuming the OP was talking about that format.

I know it . Some how I don’t rate that side very highly because of how easily we beat that side in Tests(96,98)

I mean I won’t hold it against you if you feel Gavaskar’s record in Australia is inflated because of how he performed in 81 series against Lillee.

If somehow Cummins' team wins in india (assuming India has most if it's main players) then yeah, it would be fair to elevate them to Taylor's teams level overall. Even a draw might do it. This is also predicated on a positive Ashes result as well.
