hang on

State Vice-Captain
Imran definitely deserved to be in that ATXI. Wasim was not as good a test match bowler as Imran and his batting skills were nowhere close. Imran was arguably the finest bowler of the 1980s. 1980-1988 he took 236 wickets at an avg of 17 in 48 test matches at a SR of 40 odd. His figures were better than any other bowler during that period and the 80s had some of the finest fast bowlers of all time. Wasim definitely did not deserve a place in that ESPN ATXI.
completely agree. at a slight tangent, would also have had gavaskar in there.

Waqar, what a champion.
Surpassing Waqar is ODI's would be a challenge even for a bowler of Mcgrath's caliber. 35 wickets in 12 wickets. Its a thing that might happen or might not happen. But Mcgrath still comes out ahead when you include all the other things such as averages and economy rates.

And World Cup performances.

Not really. He was average in 1996 and didn't exactly set the world on fire in 1999.He was pretty good in 2003 and great in 2007.Got better with every passing world cup,but i'm not sure if he got better enough to be called the greatest world cup performer in history.

He was excellent in '99. I don't think you've looked up McGrath's ODI record, it's really fantastic. :p

Not Terrible
Are you kidding it's obviously MoYo who is the best! Averages 0 bowling in world cups with a SR of 1.

He also scored more runs than McGrath.

McGrath just got better and better every world cup. His 99 WC performance against India in the super sixes stage was outstanding. Bowled some wonderful deliveries to get rid of Tendy, Dravid, and Azhar. Outstanding spell of fast bowling

Not sure why Mcgrath is winning this poll so comfortably. I'd prefer Akram to be honest. Reverse swing and pace gives him the edge for me.

I'm assuming this thread is eight pages because people are just all laughing at how much better McGrath was and how easy this choice is.

But that pace and swing doesn't necessarily translate into wickets so it is more glamour than real substance

I could only agree that Mcgrath was a great chucker.
Nothing that it he deserves.
Even his own contrymen accept this fact.

Moreover, I also do not admire him much also 'coz he false appealing was the way for him to get wickets.
I Rate Vettori higher than this typical australian idiot bcoz of his character and honesty.

Yes, but he does deserve some credit from Australian for cheating.
