it's not based on his last performances...it's based on his last few performances..if you look at the thread title, it says "who is the best all rounder in the world AT THE MOMENT"

.
Thanks for correcting me. Serves me right for not reading the title thoroughly.

What I said does hold in general though :)

At the moment I think that Razzaq and Flintoff are the best batting allrounders, however their are people like Cairns / Kallis / Gayle who perform at times, and are more of a even mix as opposed to being dominant in one of the fields.

Shouldn't that read:

My vote for the modern day is for Abdur Razzaq as well. But I do have a liking for the way Vettori is progressing in the batting department.
Pity about Vettori's bowling then :p

As for Razzaq being better than Flintoff, hmm.

I'd also put Gayle up there in ODIs.

Flintoff 'at the moment" but dont write off Kallis's bowling just yet.

These two are the best in tests. Others need ODI games to be termed true all rounders.

I don't think Cairns will ever really play that well again...I think he'll be lucky to make it to the World Cup in 2007.

Jacob Oram is on the up...but he hasn't really yet found his touch with the bat.

i think oram has started to find the touch with the bat in the test match arena with his advances in the series against Pakistan and South Africa, though some of his batting in England wasn't that good.
But I think he Definitely needs to work on his batting in the one day arena as an average of about 17 isn't very good, for a player with those qualities, - being the fact that he originally started as a batsmen for Central Districts.

I think that there is quite a substantial gap between Flintoff and Kallis. Kallis is more of a batting allrounder who bowls about 2nd/3rd change, where as Flintoff is a genuine allrounder, batting about 5 and bowling 1st change.

In both forms, it would be beneficial to NZ and to Oram if he had a "quality" opening bowler to bowl with him, and would give him more confidence. He is turning into a good allrounder and is a future captain of the NZ side.

Really. And what do you base your comments on. One good year by Flintoff against six years of consistently good performance by Kallis.

Just check your facts.

Kallis' bowling performance of late is very much less than good, and the thread is about "at the moment"

I think we'll see Kallis bowl less & less now. He's lost alot of pace & he's basically just a medium pacer who hits the deck...easy pickings for good batsmen.

Interesting to see that when this thread was started in February everyone rated Kallis as number one, but since the thread has been regenerated and his bowling has pretty much struggled through the year, his rating as an allrounder has fallen in most people's opinions.

Agree with Tim , he's likely to now limit his bowling , since he is not able to limit run scoring off his bowling in ODIs or get many wickets as he did in the past even in Tests.

IMO, Oram has a great potential to be a true all rounder like Freddie (in the Botham mould) . But to achieve that, he must value his wicket and not give it away easily as he has sometimes been known to do.

Vettori on the other hand has to rediscover wicket taking in Tests .

I think Oram is at the stage that Freddie was a few years ago...giving his wicket away so easily. Extremely frustrating.

Although Oram has played significantly less test cricket than Flintoff...so i'll give him some time yet to develop.

I would say that's just the fact that the average CW forum member actually knows what he's talking about?
