Early Clarke was genuinely good against spin, late career he had fallen away a fair bit. Still remember him missing a few straight ones from Jadeja, dire stuff.
Don't think that's possible because scorecards didn't record that kind of information until recently.Has anyone ever split Bradman's average? One average versus pace and one versus seam? That would be interesting. It would be nice if a stats site could do a breakdown like that for every player.
I did but can’t remember the results, and only against England. Though subsequently I found out he scored 243 against Mankad without dismissal courtesy of Charles Davis.Has anyone ever split Bradman's average? One average versus pace and one versus seam? Possibly. Clarke was technically excellent against spin but got dismissed by them more than he should. As for Smith, he is superb against right-arm spin, but the left-armers have had quite a bit of success (relatively, anyway) against him. He's still amongst the best players of spin today, but there's only about 10 players that know how to play spin still playing. For a while there they used to bring up Michael Clarke's stats against spin and it he was averaging like 80 or 90 against spinners in Tests. Steve Smith probably a fair call too.
Maybe they just seemed great because they're from a country that can't play spin.
That's very harsh on Sri Lanka's GOAT seamer Chaminda Vaas who was in fine form during that series! That SL attack consisted of 3 okaish to rubbish bowlers and 1 great spinner. That was hardly a great spin bowling unit.
I also recall reading Bradman averaged less than 60 against Hedley Verity who got him out more than anyone in Tests.I did but can’t remember the results, and only against England. Though subsequently I found out he scored 243 against Mankad without dismissal courtesy of Charles Davis.
Absolute bunnyI also recall reading Bradman averaged less than 60 against Hedley Verity who got him out more than anyone in Tests.
I'd think you'd have be a bit better than 'rubbish-to-okayish' to take 14 wickets in a test. I mean, no one from, for example, South Africa has done it. A really, appallingly silly argument when Murali and Vaas took 50 out of the 60 West Indian wickets in the series. Sounds like a visitor from the school of bollocks as usual. That's very harsh on Sri Lanka's GOAT seamer Chaminda Vaas who was in fine form during that series!
Charles Davis picks up a small anomaly but the quoted stat is 8 dismissals for 401 runs, one of the best records v Bradman for any type of bowler.I also recall reading Bradman averaged less than 60 against Hedley Verity who got him out more than anyone in Tests.
Apart from guys who only played a match or two against him, I think it is THE best record v Bradman isn't it?Charles Davis picks up a small anomaly but the quoted stat is 8 dismissals for 401 runs, one of the best records v Bradman for any type of bowler.
Probably. How did Bedser fare?Apart from guys who only played a match or two against him, I think it is THE best record v Bradman isn't it?
That is exactly what I was thinking but I thought it might be tactful to be slightly more diplomatic!I'd think you'd have be a bit better than 'rubbish-to-okayish' to take 14 wickets in a test. Depending on the method of communication, it may be recoverable.
Also, even if you cannot start your laptop, it should be possible for IT specialists to recover files from your hard drive. Although it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new charger, lol. Sounds like a visitor from the school of bollocks as usual.
