Wait. Hold the phone.

I didn't even know that the World Cup has started yet. I absent-mindingly clicked onto cricinfo, and found that not only that it had started, but we had also lost to bangladesh.

I don't like our chances for the tournament. Not entirely because of this, but I don't see us winning this one. But I've been found wrong in the past, such as during the recent Chapple Hadlee series.

Great result for Bangladesh but if anything it could ruin their chances of catching India or Sri Lanka off guard.
Yeah I was going to say the same thing, they might have just woke India and Sri Lanka up to the realistic chance they could lose to them if their not committed 100% to their matches. But the scary thing about it all is that it wasn't even a full strengh Bangladesh team with Nafees and Rafique both rested. A good sign that the depth is starting to come through for Bangladesh, which is probably the biggest worry for Sri Lanka and India. No longer can you rely on running through their top order and the rest crumble, or attacking their backup seamers and effectively nulifying Mortaza and spinners.

wow is it just a coincedence but a lot or all of the SLA bowlers have gone great guns

Abdur Razzak 10 overs 4/26
Vettori 10 overs 3/38
Yuvraj 3.5 overs 4/12
Leverock 10 overs 2/32
Panesar 2 overs 1/1
Jayasuriya 5 overs 2/19
No coincidence. The game I watched last night had a slow, uneven pitch which took plenty of turn, and from what I've read about the other games a few of them have been like that, plus one greentop. Definitely been bowler friendly surfaces so far. :)

This morning's result not withstanding, I'd be extremely surprised if Bangladesh beat either Sri Lanka or India in the group stages.

Slow low pitches make it very hard to "get batsmen out", you end up relying more on them getting themselves out.

Gotta laugh at that idiot Scaly. Seriously dude, why don't you just put "I hate New Zealanders" in your sig and be done with it?
Because he also hates South Africans, Pakistanis and that's only the examples from the last 2 days. He hates near enough everyone when they have the galle to contradict him.

Duuuuuuuuh!

Forget to read the entire quote of what he quoted from me... and when I posted that post I was half-expecting someone to post something about Galle Cricket Ground...

Great to see Ryan do well yesterday, said to the Beeb last week his dream is to represent South Africa and he still has a long way to go but getting a Michelle when considering bowling is his weakest suit is definitely one way to impress. Batting is his strongest suit and his a good player of pace and I would not be surprised if he excelled against Australia and South Africa.
