Warmups

Without wanting to read the entire thread, does anyone think these games carry any weight?

Over analysis here is dangerous. Results are inconsequential (sp?) and give zero indication of how the tournament will go.
Tell that to the Bangladeshis who're already claiming I was wrong to be a little-Englander-exclusionist and that their team have already completely humiliated me blah-blah-blah...

not reading much into the ban/nz warm-up. Its a practise in new conditions. I take positives out of Orams continued form and vettoris figures.

Once all the warm up games are played the odds will change and there will be some major opinion ajdusments...

I see the SA stock falling already....
Why exactly?

None of the games have any bearing on the World Cup really.

Certainly I cannot see that anything from the next week will change my opinion.

Any betting company that bases odds on warmup matches - especially 13-a-side warmup matches - can't be expecting to stay in business for long.

 Bang won  ... Raghav now don't you feel bad, had you been cheering for India, such disappointments would not be in sight Muhahahahahahhaha :p.

Yeaaa Go Bangladesh!

There is no dissapoitment in this. This is not an official ODI. It is just a LIST-A match. The embarrasement for an IND fan is more considering that it is onlt test playing nation to lose both to KEN and BAN,

dubious record from the team which has got three players who scored more than 10,000 runs.

It's all about practice.

The official New Zealand website quotes Fleming as saying that these matches help the bowlers and batsmen get real-match practice (full quotas) and quality preparation going into the big event.

That's some good straw clutching there.

Yep and getting to play in the real conditions will be key - going into a major competition with 3 completly new grounds/pitches in the mix without getting a match on them would be intresting, particularly on team selection.

I feel that NZ lose today will do good for them. Now, they will take more care and attention towards the next matches leaving all the hype they carried after they won against AUS. Everything for the good to happen!

So we can expect more than one of the top 7 to try and have a proper bat next time after they've given some quality wicket-celebrating practise to Bangladesh?

No, he'd need a girlfriend for that to happen. I'm not 100% sure he'd have a local, either, in my experience a local pub consists of people who like you.

He just doesn't like those from anywhere other than his own neck-of-the-woods.

More xenophobic than anyone else on these forums.

?????

NZ played bad, but BD played good.

A team always plays good, while the other bad in order for one to win.

So "wicket-celebrating practise to Bangladesh" wasn't a very nice way of saying whatever it is that you wanted to say.

But as Brandon McCullum said earlier today on Radio Sport, they just did not play well, and Stephen Fleming echoed so too in the BLACK CAPS website.

McCullum also stated that they needed this as a wake up call or something to that extent.

Moreover, if this was a "wicket-celebrating practise to Bangladesh" then I should also say it was a "batting-celebrating practice to Bangladesh" too, because they batted second and won :p!!!!!

The bowlers from the bigger teams need to get better adjusted to the picthes in the Caribbean. BD has already played a tri-series there involving Canada and Bermuda, and have hence gotten a taste of the picthes' behavior and some match practice.

So coming into this match I'd say they had a plus point. But I tell you what. Quality teams are quality teams no matter what! So if NZ and the other biggies do well in the warm up matches, you can definitely expect firecrackers from them in the World Cup.

Sure these are not counted as official ODIs, but they are matches after all and should never be taken lightly!
