I argue you don't need Kallis if you have Hammond. Pick your best bats.

Gavaskar
Sutcliffe
Headley
Smith
Lara
Hammond
Knott
Hadlee
Steyn
Lillee
Murali

Hammond makes my second XI as a Batsmen alone.
He’s very much in line for the last spot for me in my first XI based on his batting alone. His secondary and tertiary skills are why I’ve got him over Lara/Smith in the XI, similar to Warne vs Murali.

For anyone interested btw, my second XI

Hutton
Gavaskar
Lara
Smith
Chappell
Kallis
Knott+
Imran
Steyn
Ambrose
Murali

Unlucky - Richards, Wasim

Oooh, interesting

My Second XI after I thought about including Headley:

Gavaskar
Sutcliffe
Headley
Smith
Lara
Hammond
Knott (+)
Imran (C)
Ambrose
Murali
Barnes

Reckon I didn't need a great 5th bowler when I've guys like Murali and Barnes to bowl a stupid amount of overs

Yeah that's my logic as well. The 5th bowler is not a make or break deal. Sobers is a luxury but Hammond can do. No need for Kallis.

Just make sure Barnes opens or he’ll sulk.

Let's go for 4, and trying something different.

Herbert Sutcliffe
Graeme Smith ^
George Headley
Greg Chappell ^
Ricky Ponting ^
Frank Worrell ©⁵
Kumar Sangakkara +
Imran Khan ³
Dennis Lillee ²
Allan Donald ¹
William O'Reilly ⁴

Sir Gordon Greenidge
Robert Simpson
Rahul Dravid
Graeme Pollock
Joseph Root
Allan Border ©
Michael Procter
Ray Lindwall
Godfrey Evans
Joel Garner
Lance Gibbs

What this illustrated are how rare guys like Kallis and Hammond are, there's like 4 of those guys max.

Only position more rare is spinner among ATGs, then legit opening batsmen and possibly wicket keeper batsmen.

Just highlights their value.

Imran in your third XI? Sheesh the hate runs deep.

You have Barry in your 1st, Hobbs in your 2nd and Pollock in your 4th? Mind boggling.

I'll deal with you in due course, but I agree with your point about Kallis for the 2nd.

With Hadlee you don't need the batting, and you can just go with the better bowling.

Hadlee, Ambrose and Steyn are all rated well ahead of Imran as bowlers and again, with Hadlee you don't need the batting.

Ambrose and Hadlee to open and Steyn in the last poll a d discussion we had, was rated ahead of Imran with the old ball, so he handles the reverse.

Who's the egregious pick over him?

You're the one trying to talk people out of selecting Kallis for their 2nd teams, is it that the hate runs deep with you?

You're such a ****ing hypocrite.

With regards to Barry, i',ve answered a million times.

In the decade they coexisted he was rated higher than Sunny, he's supplies the aggression at the top that no one else is capable of, and he slots in nicely at first.

He covers everything I'm looking for. Same exact scenario for Wasim.

And thankfully you non objective ass doesn't have to agree with it.

Ohh @subshakerz , that was an actual question btw.

Who was the egregious pick over Imran.

And least we forget I can pull up two AT teams right now, where Barry makes 2nd team, same as Imran, but the latter makes both as the all rounder and not as one of the 4 primary bowlers.

There is no case for selecting Barry over Hobbs sorry. Hobbs had a full test career and a better rep. Even if we haven't seen him play, he is still better than someone with 4 tests to his name.

And apparently you agree with me about Kallis yet want to cuss me out over it too?

And btw you are again citing CW polls as an authority, this time with Steyn.

And how can you justify Pollock behind guys like Worrell
