Yeah put Rippon in thereNot sure if mentioned earlier, but appears that Michael Rippon is now eligible. Useful option for T20 side if selectors have had enough Sodhi allsorts and don't want to pick Astle.
ODT story from 4th Nov:
Rippon told officially he is in mix for NZ selection
Any call from the national selectors is a good one. Otago left-arm wrist spinner Michael Rippon received a courtesy call before the New Zealand...www.odt.co.nz

Why Allen at 5?Guptill
Conway
Williamson
Phillips
Allen
Mitchell
Neesham
Jamieson
Santner
Boult
Ferguson
I want Conway opening. But I guess it's more likely the other way around. Why Allen at 5?
His batting average is poor but T20 strike rate is a respectable 129^^ Don't think Ravindra is a particularly good T20 player yet. So, that would be a definite no on that position from me.
i.e. not a particularly good T20 playerHis batting average is poor but T20 strike rate is a respectable 129
He was also well on his way to playing an important innings in the 2015 semi v SA before Taylor ran him out.You would, but at the same time it's also not that far from his career average/innings. 2 less 50s maybe? So if he played 20 more finals we would want 5 or 6 more 50s and 2 more 100s? Doesn't seem particularly unlikely.
You have him as opener. E.g. the most important batting position in the truncated game. He's not even good enough to open for Wellington, yet, according to them. His batting average is poor but T20 strike rate is a respectable 129
The point we keep discussing Ravindra's average is quite pointless. Majority of his games in white ball could have been for NZ A batting way down. I remember the first season he was a bowler for NZ A in white ball cricket batting at no.10 or 11. Vaguely remember when released for firebirds batting at the top was smoking Lockie, Kyle and the rest. I think his bowling alone in T20 is valuable to warrant a place in sub continent conditions. You have him as opener. E.g. the most important batting position in the truncated game. The 'since Australia' clause discludes them but I forgot about in england.Beating Australia and probably beating England in a 4 test series away is still pretty impressive.
