I'd like to find out what happens in an alternate universe where Ajaz played in the final. Santner ripped a couple past the edge and then went back to darting it in on the legs for some reason.
Well it has gotta be a priority to get Taylor playing in the t20s, I’d have thought. Can’t go into the first test not having played a match in six months or so.I wonder if any of the test players coming over can join for some these t20s? Will they get there on time, and will there be any bubble-type restrictions preventing it.
E.g. an Ajaz or Latham or Young wouldn't hurt their prep too much to fill in for a T20. Give Kane a bit of a break.
Yep, I was massively disappointed with that. Having said that, he's got a bit of a history of doing that on helpful decks - I remember the Pakistan game at the 2019 World Cup where it was ragging, and he couldn't land 2 in a row in the right spot and someone (Babar?) took him apart. Guess that's been his issue at Test level, tooI'd like to find out what happens in an alternate universe where Ajaz played in the final. From stuff: The Black Caps have 15 players available for the Indian T20s, but Stead confirmed the six who are also in the squad for the two World Test Championship matches to follow would play small roles.Well it has gotta be a priority to get Taylor playing in the t20s, I’d have thought. Yeah still a top class white ball bowler but he's been taken for some runs of late. He just bowls, fast, flat in dippers of late and doesn't look to turn. The batters are batting deep in the crease and playing square. When he first came on the scene he used to use dip the ball lots more and turn a bit if not prodigiously. I guess the t20 wrecked his red ball cricket. Is it just me or has Santner actually lost accuracy over time. It wasn't for nothing that he became NZ's first choice limited overs spinner and new-Vettori. My memory is his effectiveness came from a combination of accuracy, variation in pace/trajectory and the confidence to toss the ball up when batsmen were hitting him, which yielded quite a few wickets (again, Vettori-like). He still has the same overall approach of course, but a boundary-ball per over not uncommon and batsmen seem to have little difficulty scoring five singles per over from him either.
Exactly. Spin in T20s is a proven winner in all conditions, and NZ have always picked spinners in T20. We are not going to suddenly pick an all-seam attack for the World Cup because of a hunch that we should just bowl like it's a test match. No spinner in your 11? T20 is a game invented for spinners and fattish 40 year old batsmen. Madness.
Imagine not playing a mediocre leg spinner at one of those wrongly aligned AFL grounds with big square boundaries. A long hop by a leg spinner is the best percentage ball in the sport.
Except his high score apart from the century is 39 off 75 back in the 2011 semi vs Sri Lanka, you’d definitely expect a better return than that.Haha yeah I cracked up at the blokes going "Oh Guptill only tons up 1 in every 10 knockout game".
FFS guys how often do you think people ton up in any game?
