Whatever it takes!!!
Do we have a chance of beating you in a 2 test series at least this time? Will Latham be out till that series?
Yep, he's on a pretty short leash as far as I'm concerned, and I don't really have any confidence he'll turn it around. He just doesn't look likely these days, he's been a long way from his best for ages. Would love to see the selectors be proactive and try out some new options.I don't think people realise just how bad Guptill's been in recent years. Against the top teams (Eng, Ind, Aus, SA) he's been averaging in the teens since that 180 odd all the way back in 2017. Really don't see how that's acceptable, especially after his dismal World Cup effort.
this is probably the most suited side you've brought to nz. a lot will depend on how you adapt. since 2008 england have shown up bowling a foot too short and blamed everything but themselves. for the batsmen there's the swing and potentially the tennis ball type bounce.Do we have a chance of beating you in a 2 test series at least this time? Entirely depends on how the India series goes and the India A. If our current locked in players like Guptill, Munro, Nicholls etc show some good form the introduction of the likes of Phillips, Seifert, Ravindra playing full time will be delayed. Young will make the team first up on the basis of his excellent season last year. Conway will definitely make the team there's no doubt about that when he becomes available. Phillips and Seifert will be likely in and out. Ravindra won't be picked up, we are way too conservative to introduce younger players. Ravindra will likely become a regular feature in about couple of years time. From the way he's gone on he seems to become a very important cog in every team he plays given he bats as good as he bowls but for him to get in the team will take time. With an eye to the future and the 2023 WC how do you think our test and ODI line ups might look?

India had quality cricketers even on the last trip but as soon as couple of games didn't go their way they almost appeared disinterested. Maybe now Kohli is at helm and given the championship points are up for grabs they may come better prepared. Wellington deck offers good bounce and movement but the wind can be a major factor. It can put off your guys big time. This is one of the reason why India has always struggled at Basin. The wind will be howling and there are bound to be a day of dodgy weather if not two. If India bat on those days it's anyone's game. If there is not as much wind then Indian bowlers may have some good time. Our boys know to acclimatize to these conditions. I'm not sure how many of your bowlers will have bowled at Basin. I know for sure Ishant Sharma did and picked up good number of wickets before Baz went ballistic in the second dig. It will be very hard to breach Black Caps at Basin. It will take mighty effort both from your batters and bowlers to win a game at Basin. Spinners are not a factor at basin so no matter what spinner you play won't necessarily have much effect. Fortunately for us, you are playing your first test match at BasinDo we have a chance of beating you in a 2 test series at least this time? Will Latham be out till that series?
Not sure. I know his friends and fellow Pretorians Ludick and Evan Jones definitely started the three-year process in January 2017. Foxcroft began playing for Taradale in 2016/17, but it would depend on when his own letter of intent went in.Anyone know when Foxcroft is eligible?
Stead has to otherwise he won't last long enough. They have to pick their best side to momentarily erase the bad Aussie memory. I'm not expecting any surprises for the India tour. Maybe later in the year but for now they will go with status quo.i don'tthink any of foxcroft, ludick and co. are gonna make it tbh. wagner and conway are a level above.
also article i read yesterday seemed to imply stead would pick his best side possible for the t20 series, so i can see precious kane and ross energy getting wasted.
Yes I can also be sceptical of the more porcine-looking bats who get their careers off to a very fast start (say Craig McMillan or Craig Cachopa), but a 21-year-old averaging 76 and a SR of 140 in our domestic T20 isn't a very common thing. Also kept Central Districts from being a complete caricature of their pace-loving selves with that 60-odd on a slow and holding pitch in a tense and consequential game (last season's final). There's really no one else his age in our white ball cricket who's proven he's got that knock in him.i don'tthink any of foxcroft, ludick and co. are gonna make it tbh. wagner and conway are a level above.
just looked him up and didn't realise he averaged 41 with the bat in t20. his other batting averages need a boost, though i notice an amusing 16 w @ 15 with the ball in the shield.Yes I can also be sceptical of the more porcine-looking bats who get their careers off to a very fast start (say Craig McMillan or Craig Cachopa), but a 21-year-old averaging 76 and a SR of 140 in our domestic T20 isn't a very common thing. Yes, that was an impressive innings under pressure by Foxcroft. He looks pretty solid in the Plunket Shield snippets I've seen, even when facing a pumped up Sears. I suspect he will be challenging for higher honours over the next couple of seasons.Yes I can also be sceptical of the more porcine-looking bats who get their careers off to a very fast start (say Craig McMillan or Craig Cachopa), but a 21-year-old averaging 76 and a SR of 140 in our domestic T20 isn't a very common thing.
