An interesting side chosen by India. You would expect Harbhajan, Ishant and Dhoni to come back in for next week (fitness permitting) but is it a shoot out between Sreesanth and Patel for the last spot in the attack? Be harsh on PK but you would think he could have done with a match in English conditions with him being the least experienced internationally in the pace attack.

Good to see Strauss get runs, wouldn't mind 3 days rain now to leave India totally undercooked.

I see perhaps Fletcher's hand in leaving out PK....in which case it doesn't matter what he does in terms of actually being effective, his speed will be enough to bias some people against him forever in favor of....MUNAF PATEL FFS...

But it's the BCCI's fault that the England tour comes straight off the back of a tour to the West Indies.

The BCCI could have started the England tour a month ago and gotten plenty of tour games for their players to acclimatise. But because the IPL pushed the tour of the West Indies back, they've got almost bugger all time to prepare. That's not the ECB's fault, that's not the ICC's fault, it's not the FTP's fault.

man, do you even realize that Pakistan's tour of Windies had been planned well in advance? India's tour was not gonna start any earlier, IPL or no IPL... Just can't let a post go by without bashing BCCI, huh?

I am genuinely struggling to stay awake. The bowlers are getting the square root of **** all out of the wicket, there hasn't been a false shot all session, Raina's on to bowl and the Indian tactics appear to be "let's see if we can get a run out". Mishra's just copped one on the end of the finger.

Both Compton and Suppiah looking in decent touch, Nick playing some particularly sweet shots through the covers. Still just seems unhurried and very pre-season... even with the amount of cloud there has been no suggestion of the medium pacers doing anything with it. Would have been interesting to see whether PK could get any shape...
