Good resultIkki fuming somewhere aws.
The general level of the opposition was lower but from the limited footage di Stefano himself looks glorious tbh.Aside from a lack of running ability.
Played in a way that actually won stuff. Wilts playing style was all me me me and there's plenty of analysis out there proving pretty conclusively that his stats were very inflated. How come Russell is that much ahead of Wilt while both played in the same era??
That's Zidane, if he played inthe 50s and 60s. Absolute class player.
You are high asf to tell me this man would had looked out of place in modern football. Maradona and Péle are more likely to be out of place than him.
Zidane, but with better consistency. That's Zidane, if he played inthe 50s and 60s. Absolute class player.
Only seeing this now. Its a good list. tbh I began watching in 02/03 so I missed Lowndes glory days and the best of Skaife. I’d swap Frosty and Murph but that’s about it. I was surprised in my head initially to see Ambrose above SVG but then it made a bit of sense. imo he got a bit lucky in 2016 (Whincup at Bathurst, Sandown)(Of my watch time only)
Whincup
Skaife
McLaughlin
Ambrose
van Gisbergen
Lowndes
Tander
Murphy
Winterbottom
Ingall
Whincup did it in the strongest era, and both he and Skaife had the same long term great team mate.
Lowndes, McLaughlin and Ambrose both noticeably lifted the pace that you needed to bring to be the champ. Lowndes is a winner of great races rather than great championships.
Which is also increasingly true of Murphy, who loved to be really fast but get on the wrong side of factory team principals and move to shithouse teams in his prime (PWR).
The rest were very, very good drivers who punctuated strong periods for someone else with their Rosberg moments (while also ensuring Lowndes kept coming second).
