Ponting, Kaif, Gibbs, Dravid(slip), Collingwood, Powell, warne(slip),Tendulkar
pretty good choices

Lee is the best outfielder in the world for mine, outfielders tend to be very underrated.

Clarke is a heaps good fielder but not a slip.

Symonds is probably the best all round, hes got a better arm from teh outfield than ponting,n ot that you can have your skipper in teh outfield anyway

Don't know if anyone else saw this one, but the best catch I've ever seen was a Superman effort by Daren Ganga at square leg. Gary Kirsten play a thunderous pull and Ganga flew full stretch and took it one-handed in a split second.

Lara also took an amazing catch off Klusener last year.

sadly not one person has mentioned graeme hick, one of the best slip fielders we've ever had, has a brilliant arm and could field anywhere in the field.

Good call. In my watching era only Junior Waugh was a better slipper than Hick.

Harris and Marshall are good fielders too, most other cricketers have improved their fielding over the years

Symonds is the best end of story..

Apart from maybe Flintoff no one has an arm as strong as him and no one is as athletic or as good a run stoper or catcher..

Cricketer Of The Year
Symonds, Ponting, Kaif, Powell, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Gibbs, Carseldine, Al Sahariah

Previous best...Mark Waugh, Rhodes and Taylor

The better catches that come to mind immediately are ..

Yuvraj Singhs catch of Jonty (?) in the Champions Trophy 2002 semi final (best catch ever IMO )

Glen McGraths horizontal diving catch in the outfield.

Kaifs catch of Shoaib Malik in the first ODI in Pakistan..he held on to a wonderful catch despite having to cover a lot of ground and being involved in a collision with Badani to boot.

Pontings catch of Tendulkar at short mid on in one of the ODIs in the last VB series.

Sadagoppan Rameshs catch of Warne off Harbhajan to give him the Kolkata hat-trick .

The catch held by Sehwag on the boundary vs Pakistan in the Holland Cup was memorable too for the nonchalance with which he plucked it one handed.

Ponting's catch of Sinclair at the gabba...i was walking through the gates at the time
Hayden's catch of Dippenaar in Adelaide? Better than Ponting's IMHO
Taylor catching Carl Hooper off Michael Bevan, awesome!
Some of the stuff Gilchrist's done
McMillan took a screamer in the outfield
Symond's return catch low down, very underrated
Tom Moody a while back in the Carlton & United, full stretch off his own bowling

has anyone seen the catch Roshan mahanama took off a Azarudhin flick at short mid wicket??? think it was 1997 in colombo. crazy catch it was.

i'm not sure too many people have stronger arms than chris cairns or are better slip fielders than shane warne but andrew symonds has to be the best all-round fielder.

Jnr.

First Class Debutant
Asked to name his personal best 11 fielders, Jonty Rhodes mentioned himself, "since I know me better than others", Fanie De Villiers (South Africa), Brett Lee, Mark Waugh, Mark Taylor, Ricky Ponting (all Australia), Herschelle Gibbs, Justin Ontong (both South Africa), Upul Chandana (Sri Lanka), Mohd Kaif and Yuvraj Singh (both India).

"My fielding was a bit different to (former South African) Colin Bland's. Bland's speciality was hitting at the stumps with accuracy. I relied more on anticipation, on the body language exhibited by the batsman. Ponting comes closest to my style," he said.
As for best all round fielder - Ponting IMO. Slip, bat-pad, ring - he does a great job in any position.

International Debutant
Ponting can, as you said play in any position very well, unlike Warney, who was in the 2nd test vs New Zealand put in at sillyfor 1 or 2 deliveries. He wasn't wearing a helmet and looked very uncomfortable. He was then moved to slip. He was bowling at the other end, which may explain why he didn't have a helmet.
