chris harris easily the best
Ahh it was Harris. I knew there was a New Zealander who fielded really well at point and I was going to include into my "ring fielder" category. I thought it was Harris, but I wasn't so sure, I mean, it is Harris, look at him! :p

at the time of the '92 WC in AUS / NZL Rhodes, Harris & Ponting were the best inner circle fieldsmen in the game...............head & shoulders above the rest..........

Marshall is rated highly as a ground fielder (as opposed to being a catcher), and has a similar technique to Jonty (eary anticipation), but is not as good when it comes to throwing down the timber..........

Harvey is a freakish fielder in close - particularly off his own bowling...........

Andre Adams was/is possibly the best all rounder fielder in the NZL team - agility, pace, great reflexes & brilliant arm - or at least such was the story when he made his debut.........

Cairns still has one of THE strongest & accurate arms - see his involvement in the run out in the WC..............

as a Team I'd still rate NZL as being up there with AUS & RSA, although the ENG team would now make it a foursome..............
While I don't doubt that Ponting was probably a handy fielder at high school, he was only 17 at the time of the 1992 World Cup...
