Norwood's on Fire
I respect your right to an incorrect opinionRoot is behind Williamson, Smith, Mathews, Warner and AB at the moment IMO. Easily the best of all of them at age 24 though.

Perhaps even more so in the eyes of the average commentary box/tv studio.Mathews is easily the most underrated player on CW. Since taking the captaincy he has been an absolute gun.
Up to (equal) number twoWill be interesting to see how far he moves up the rankings. I'm presuming Smith will stay ahead of him after his 2nd innings hundred, but you'd assume Kane would go ahead of Amla and maybe Root too.
Warner above Amla makes the top 6 look like an actual top 6 for a change. Warner, Williamson, Smith, Root, De Villiers, Mathews
Yeah even when Cook was having his dream run he still had random **** tests like Perth 2010 or Trent Bridge 2011. Happens as an openerInteresting that everyone above Cook in those rankings had a higher peak than him too. You'd have thought in late 2011 or mid 2013 that Cook would have a pretty huge score. I guess it's probably easier for middle order players to go on more sustained Bradmanesq runs.
I find they're really quite spot on for a 'who would you pick right now' sort of measure, especially when there's a big gap in the points, at the top end.To be fair, the batting rankings are usually pretty good as a snapshot.
Oh definitely. I'd say I'm more pro rankings than most tbh.To be fair, the batting rankings are usually pretty good as a snapshot.
They have the no.1 ranked batsman and the no.1 ranked bowler. Those rankings paint a pretty sad picture for the current state of the #1 side in the world...
Because they can't play all of their games on Aussie pitches?Yeah there's a reason pretty much no batsmen average 60.
I meant the depth and particularly on the batting side. Pakistan on the other hand is much better represented than I expected. They have the no.1 ranked batsman and the no.1 ranked bowler.
I wonder if Kane an end up hitting 60
his slow start will probably hurt him a bit but he only seems to be getting better and better
Nah come on. If you are to average 60 after a bad first few years you basically can't have rough patches. Top order batsmen have rough patches.
Ponting's average slumped to high 30's IIRC before making the 01 Headingley ton, got it pass 50 against India 03/04 and was above 60 2nd Innings of the Adelaide test 06. Definitely doable but yeah unlikely. Think Smith and Root might end up averaging above 60 for a while. Can defo see Smith's climbing above 60 this summer after feasting on the WIYeah there's a reason pretty much no batsmen average 60.
