I agree with a name-change. ..... maybe not hte mustangs though, as it conflicts with the colour system of the other established clubs. Yellows would suffice :p
Yellows to me has always been either a racist term or a way of saying 'cowards' so I'm not keen on that one at all. :)

Furthermore, I do not wish to make the colts a perpetually useless team in the system, catering for rookies year in eyar out and finishing on the bottom of the league.
This is what I'm mostly against more than anything - I think that we have the right to compete at the highest levels and I think we have the right to attract people of all ages, the best of the best. Rather than watching players leave our side, I would rather they stay and for the gaps to be filled by an equal amount of both seasoned veterans and rookies alike. It's what has made this squad, and long may it continue. I'll pledge myself to the Colts because I know that if we keep our best players and continue to develop our younger players as they come in, that we will continue to compete more and more each season.

I personally have no desire whatsoever to dispand any member of the squad. In three seasons we've managed to out-do every one of the older squads in activity and I feel that we are now competing at a high level and there is no reason for any of us to leave.
Sorry to spoil the party, but yes, there is - you've got many more players, so you can't hold on to everyone without there being squad unfairness somewhere.

If that is true, then perhaps the name Colts is an oxymoron?
Perhaps, but I don't think a name change is necessary. I think we just get on with things as they are.

Well, speaking of YOU persoanlly ...... seeing as you have had FULL international experience ... something that MOST of the league only dream of, and somethign that so many players are on the border of reaching ...... you personally (as a YOUNG international prospect) ideally (logically in regards to the system) would no longer be a 'colt' so to speak?

Although, I am not having a go at you nor the colts team, that is another concept I am yet to grasp.

Agree completely. What do you propose? :)

orange is a good colour. Rhymes with nothing and is a solid colour. ;)

Legitamately fair trading?

Hence, ensuring the 'colts' are not totally shate on to lose a great player for one sode-useless player.

It's tricky, though. As all of the teams, as far as I am aware, all have their own 'specialist' bowlers.... and also in case of the example not being YOU and being say, a gun bat ... their own specialist batsmen etc .... these said teams would not like to 'disturb' their already proven specialists and players etc.

Yet, this is waht the real sporting world is like ..... proven players are always tested by upcoming and rising stars. Competition brings the best out in people (that;s for all the capitalists out there).

Tastes good, too. Still preferring to not use a colour, though, personally. I like being the 'different' team. It's appealing.

With regards to Trav's last post, he makes a good point in him being a top specialist bowler - with Kyle seeming to retire at the end of this season, it would be a shame to lose our next-most senior FC specialist bowler. I would love to look to Geg to be the one to take up Kyle's place in helping with the training of the other seamers.

It's the third season for the colts team now, yes?

Shouldn't be called the colts anymore hey .... haven't had that much of a player turn-around .... the squad is full of relatively experienced players.... should trade players to remain as a 'colts' team ... or change its name to something else :p

I initially thought hte basic idea of the colts team was to incorporate the new players in the system to make them into better players to trade off to other teams :p
Well said - so just need to find a colour for them...

That's valid. But who's to say another gun bowler isn't around the corner? Regardless of which, if Kyle wasn't to have announced his retirement at the start of the pre-season ... in a hypothetical world ... etc etc.

Think you get the point i've been trying to make here.

If they don't like Yellow, what about Pink? ;)
That would be easy to achieve. ..... snatch an old Reds uniform and bleach it a little :( Would be cost efficient for the board :( har har.

Wait...do we *have* to have colours? Considering we were called the Colts in the first place, why not another named team?

Tigers for example. And we'd still stay yellow. Hahaha...

That is a poor example of a name, mainly because the Tigers blow.

Irrespective of that small issue, the colts were named the colts because they were an up and coming team to help the young players of the league, hence setting them aside from the other teams. As I said before, as that doesn't -really- apply anymore, perhaps a name change.

Though, I suppose you don't -have- to be named a colour, I doubt that is in the rules anywhere :p
