Right. Not as much participation as I'd hoped, but we're left with the following nominees:

Player of the Season:

AP Cloete
PE Young

Fairplay Award:

GS Gooljar
TJ Demeza

Let's hope the voting goes a bit better. Send all votes to leeahm_the_dos@hotmail.com please. Voting closes on Monday 13th or with 15 votes - whichever comes first.

Some people like some mystery to the awards. I'm not bothered either way though.

5 votes in so far.
Cloete leading Pete 3-2 in the Player of the Year.
Gooljar leads Demeza 3-2 for the Fairplay Award.

With a grand total of 7 votes in, the winners are:

Player of the Year: Pete Young
Fairplay Award: Travis Demeza

And as decided upon by the panel:

FC Player of the Year: Pete Young
OD Player of the Year: Andrew Cloete
Emerging Talent of the Year: Matt Currie

I expect speeches from each of you. And two from Pete.

Blue Boys,

I'd just like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity back in the day to open the bowling.
If others didn't have faith in the younger, inexperienced players then I wouldn't be sitting back having a bev with over 300 wickets. In turn i'd like to thank the young, up coming, blokes at the club for their enthusiasim and having said this, I believe it only fair to give the young fellahs a crack at every chance possible.

If I win a fairplay award for this attitude, then that's great, but the fairplay award should be given to the blue administration in season 8 for helping a young guy out, who now in turns wishes the same for other young bowlers around the club.

Oh, and a mention for old Goolj... mate, your pizzas weren't the best, your ice cream melted most of the time and you have a horrible singing voice, but you sure are an asset to the blue club. Well done, son.

cheers,

Drinks on Pete.

Not really surprised at getting the Emerging Talent award...

It's good to be recognised and I hope I can push on from here and make serious match winning contributions next season for Blue, and hopefully we bring the trophies back home.

Cheers to the management and the selectors for giving me a decent run this season and an opportunity to prove what I can offer the team.

Good luck to everyone with their cricket in the off season (whether it be International, A, or just club cricket).

Looking forward to next season already...

Well done to everyone who received an award this season, it was a patchy start to the season for the whole side but we recovered in both formats. More so obviously in OD and a lot of that is to do with Currie and Cloete's performances but I would say, as much to do with a solid team effort with many people contributing who may not have recieved awards like Mat Smith. Collins and Dunn while the internationals were away. Big kudos to those guys.

Congrats to Trav on his award which I feel is well deserved even if he doesn't think my jokes are funny. Always good for a joke and light-hearted commentary on performances, a true Blue and sound chap to boot.Special mention to Mr Gooljar though, without his contribution to team spirit and team nourishment I'm not sure where the Blues would be today. An excellent ambassador for Blues and CWLand as a whole.

I won't say I wasn't surprised at my form shown this season as in previous seasons, my level of performance has been mostly terrible and sporadically OK. This season however, I feel I have been able to concentrate on performing at the top of the order and continuing steadily rather than dropping away. I'm just disappointed that this season of decent performances couldn't catapult us to where we belong at the head of the table, ruling the roost.

Anywho, great season to be a part of even if we did lose a stalwart in Patrick in less than satisfying circumstances, we've gone from strength to strength and I look forward to a spectacular off-season for Blues players and cash in next season.

PS, Trav has assured me he was only joking about the drinks being on me, Fuller will cover it. Good month of medical trials.

drama at black lol...

can't keep up with all the transfers...

Are players allowed to just leave their club for another side?

seems pretty weak tbh.

Anyone looking at leaving the club?
Not thus far. No one has notified me of it at least. I'd like to think that everyone here has enough respect for the management of Blue to discuss it with one of us before leaving.

Admittedly we will have to deal one or two of the bowling staff to make the team more balanced...
Yeah, with so many international batsmen, we certainly need to recuit one or two guys who can bat as support. The addition of Armstrong midseason helped, but we lost a handful of games due to our lack of batting backup.
