Great effort by everyone today. We may not have brought home the trophy, but we tried hard and just weren't the better team on the day. Especially outstanding were Goff and DeSilva, and of course, Armstrong. Played crucial innings on a tricky surface.

The bowling didn't really fire, but not for lack of effort. Smith and Dunn gave it their all, but maybe nerves and inexperience counted against them.

All in all a very pleasing season, given the hardships we endured to get to this point.

Great effort fellas, the batting did just enough to make it an exciting and competitive game, but were overwhelmed by a better side.

I'd also like to thank Blue for giving me the chance to play so much of the OD season after I just rejoined mid-way through. It was a pleasure to play with Blue, certainly much more so than Green, and I look forward to Blue taking out the double next season.

I'm thinking the awards will go as such:

Emerging Talent Award
Player of the Season (Players Choice)
Fairplay Award

The Emerging Talent, FC and OD awards will be decided by a panel, whilst the Player of the Season and Fairplay Award will be voted on by the players.

The Panel:

Sean Fuller
Andrew Cloete
Pete Young
Travis Demeza

The panel comprises of the most experienced of Blue players as well as those who have held positions of authority in the past and those who presently do.

Nominees for Emerging Talent Award:

MJC Currie

GAJ Armstrong

The Fairplay Award will go to the player considered to have embodied the spirit of the game - team spirit, discipline, etc. Nominations for the Fairplay Award are welcomed. Each nomination must be seconded and thirded. Each person can only nominated one person and second (or third) one player.

I nominate Gareth Gooljar.

As an outsider, I can only see one person who should get the Fairplay - Demeza has been a credit to the club this season with the way he's helped new players out.

Cloete had a poor FC season by his standards, but his efforts in the OD stuff leads me to give him my vote for Blue Player of the Year.

Nominate Pete Young for fairplay award. True champion.

Player of the season for me is Pete, also. Although not a regular part of the OD team, his FC batting quite often was our only shining light throughout the season. He's not a bad guy either, even with his pavilion pranks and annoyance Much Kudos.

I third Trav for Fairplay award, always one of the most active members of the lineup and encouraging to the more inexperienced performers.

How are we voting for everything? Do you want us to wait until nominations are done for everything then cast votes?

Ideally I'd like to get at least 3 people for each players' choice category before voting begins. The panel will discuss and decide upon the other awards. It won't be a vote as much as a discussion.

Probably Cloete for the player of the season for me. Young was very good in FC but didn't really play in both forms of the game, so I'd have to go Cloete.

yeah, that's why I chose Cloete too. Pete had a tremendous FC season.
