So we've got another huge game against Greens tomorrow guys, the decider of the OD title. Our teams looking pretty good, with Cloete and Sean being amazing with the bat this season, De Silva and Pete both having solid seasons with the bat. Me and Wilshere have 2 of the best strike rates in the league, and I reckon Ben's due a few. The bowling's great as well, with the pace quartet doing their stuff, and being very well backed up by Halsey and Liam. Anyway, just the best of luck to everyone in the last match, let's bring that trophy home.

But...rumour on the street has it that Demeza is to bat at 10 and Patrick to bat at 11 for the 5day final...... on current form (and to be honest...season form) !!!!
That would be a poor move IMO. Nath can actually block...

It was a slight tongue in cheek joking remark ;) BUT, to be honest, if both players have scored similar runs for the season, at similar averages, but one h as a strike rate of 150 and the other 15..... i'd put the 150 s/r one above the 15 in the batting order.
He can go out, have a tonk, and get out, and then the other can make the crowd sleep and hold down an end ;) :P

It would depend on the situation. If you already had a batsman on 120* in, I'd much prefer the slow scorer, as he could just stay in and build a big partnership with the set batsman.

Congratulations guys on topping the table in both forms of the game.

For a team which many wrote off at the start of the year, and who generally struggled in season 8, we've come a long way and performed remarkably well. I think we will deservedly be big favourites to take the OD title, and we can definately do the double if everyone plays to their ability.

What a difference Liam makes to the OD team. He adds so much more than the man he replaced (me..). He's really started to make a habit out of coming on as 6th bowler and completely running through a side. Makes the side look a lot more imposing, with both bat and ball.

You should. I think it's obvious that your experience comes in handy in the OD games, which is why you've single handedly cut short an opposition innings twice recently. You're an excellent partner for Halsey and Adam in the middle overs as well.

Fair enough for the regular season, but in a final, I dont see why the best bowlers shouldnt bowl...

Its always great to have six frontline bowling options (in fact, its actually unheard of..) so why not take advantage of it? If someone isnt in particularly good form on the day, take them off and bowl the others. Your OD bowling this season has been the equal, if not better, than all the other bowlers.

No doubt about it. I've bowled 123 overs in List-A games this season, and taken 19 wickets @ 34.54 with an economy rate of 5.34. Liam has, I believe, 14 wickets, an average well under 20 and an economy rate under 4. He should definately be bowling in the final, because as you say wehave six bowlers, and we should use those performing on the day.

Can we not bring up OD bowling stats? :p
No doubt Liam should bowl his full 10 really. The most experienced and in-form.

Let`s do the double!

[I] - pulled to midwicket, brilliantly held[/I]
The support bowlers of the Blue OD pace attack - Sean Fuller and Adam Collins ripped through the Red batting order, setting up victory by 7 wickets at the Dome.

Young holds it together
Code:
P.E. Young ct Jasotharan b Wright 115 243 10 1
With a lead of 107 on first innings, Pete Young batted beautifully and bravely to help Blue from 69/3 on second innings to 293 all out, and victory by 258 runs.

Cloete dismantles Colts
Code:
A Cloete c JP McNamara b DJ Comley 100 98 8 1
Against a respected and successful spin attack, Andrew Cloete showed no fear in smashing a matchwinning OD hundred, as the Blues chased 246 for victory by 7 wickets.

Jellett counterattacks supremely
Code:
D. Jellett ct Feeney b Rai 153 220 16 2
Entering at 58/4 on a good batting surface, Jellett counterattacked beautifully to lift Blue to 330 all out, in what turned out to be a close, yet victorious affair.

Patrick pulls it back
Code:
P.R. Sajith b Patrick 72 159 9 0

[I] - top-edged hook shot to a quick delivery[/I]
Nath Patrick claimed 5 Green wickets for just 30 runs, as he inspired Blue victory by 63 runs, when Green need a target of just 251. The Greens were cruising along at 124/1 when Patrick made his mark.

Fitzsimmons closes up
Code:
S.G. Fitzsimmons not out 78 295 2 0
Simon Fitzsimmons curbed his natural instincts to bat out an entire day in saving a drawn result for Blue against the Reds.

Fitzsimmons and Young school the youths
Code:
S.G. Fitzsimmons ct Hancock b Comley 213 364 14 2
P.E. Young lbw b Hancock 114 238 12 0
Pete Young and Simon Fitzsimmons shared a record stand of 276 for the first wicket, as the Colts laboured in the field for over five hours. The Colts had earlier scored 355 all out, and the partnership ensured an innings victory flat surface.

With just 6 runs need off the final over for a Colts win, Nath Patrick bowled a superb final over, dismissing Brown and keeping the innings topscorer at bay. He allowed just 4 runs in the over, and Blue took a crucial win by 1 run, having lost 2 straight OD matches.

Top order digs in
Code:
S.G. Fitzsimmons ct Bennett b Kennett 89 278 4 0

The Blue batsmen settled in for painstakingly long knocks, as they salvaged a draw against the Reds at the Oval. Batting with great heart and desire against the likes of Watt and Kennett, the effort was a defining moment in a season of guts.

Cloete and Fuller launch Greens
Code:
A Cloete not out 174 154 18 1
SE Fuller not out 86 91 5 2
Andrew Cloete and Sean Fuller piled on an unbroken stand of 192 runs off 182 balls, as Blue charged to 318/3 and victory by 112 runs over the Greens. Cloete's hundred took just 83 balls to compile, after he raced to his 50 off 37 balls. Fuller was more circumspect, and proved the perfect foil to perhaps the best OD innings of the season.

Camps swings it
NR Hancock c SE Fuller b LA Camps 19 32 0 0
- flashed to extra cover
KS Wright b LA Camps 2 8 0 0
- bowled between bat and pad by a reverse-swinging delivery

GM Thomas b LA Camps 2 11 0 0
- played around a reverse-swinging yorker
CD McKern c A Crampton b LA Camps 0 3 0 0
- edged a legcutter behind[/CODE]
Cashing in on surprising reverse swing, Liam Camps found the Colts lower order wanting, as he took 5 for 18 in collapsing the score from 115/5 to 140 all out.

Demeza livens it up
Code:
H. Mørk b Demeza 1 23 0 0

[I] - played around a full, straight deliver[/I]
Following the show of defiance from the Blue batsmen, Travis Demeza livened up a seemingly tame draw with 5 quick wickets to stun and concern the Reds.

Seamers seal it - 5D Glory!
Code:
T.V. Weber b Collins 7 22 0 0

[I] - caught at fifth slip, pushed at a length ball[/I]
The Blue seamers came up huge at the biggest moment of the season, as Green was denied the 17 runs needed to become Season 9 5D Champions. Instead, the Blues turned things around from 205/6 (chasing 266) to 249 all out and a well-deserved title.

Guts and OD Glory!

[I] - hit on the toe by a sharp yorker[/I]
Liam Camps took 6 wickets to demolish the Green middle order, and limit the score from 157/0 to 264 all out, as the Blues sealed the OD title with victory by 5 wickets. The chase was anchored beautifully by Young and Fuller, but it was the cameos of Crampton and Camps at the end that sealed the deal.

Awesome read, and well done to put it together. Just shows how many good performances we have to take out of the season, even if we did go down in both finals.

Congrats to everyone who stepped up this year, particularly Dinu, Andrew, Liam and Tom in the ODers, and Simon and every member of the seam attack in the longer form. We can go one step better next season, I'm sure.
