Very valid and true.
Especially the last sentence.

Just a tiny petpeeve of mine, for our side ;)
Yeah I know what you mean. I bowl too, and it's always frustrating if you've got a decent rhythm up and you've got to head back to the slips and watch the action for the rest of the day. Still, it's a decent system and if we get the balance right I think we'll have a better season next year, we certainly have the talent.

Yeah.
I hope to play overseas to work on my wicket taking ability & strike rate ... some more consistency in my hauls.

Perhaps a bit more aggression and bodyline bowling. Not overly phased about how many runs i conceede...just need those damn wickets!

Next season is the blue season!

i dunno mate, youve got a fair few not-outs this season...
21 not outs from 36 innings now. By my calculations I'm about to bring up another milestone for the season: 1000 balls faced. :p I'm up to 992 after the last game, so hoping to last eight balls. Maybe even score the 13 runs to bring up my 500 career runs (yay!), though going by my strike rate this season (24.40), that will take me about 53 balls.

Learn to bat too!
No way!

Why? Demeza isn;t in the team to bat!

Any team relying on the number 11 to get any runs at all has some severe problems ;)

Plus, i'm the leader in golden ducks, ducks for the season, and golden pairs..
No way in hell i'm giving that up!

Haha, some more quality contributions with 2* (18) and 1* (23). :) Pity about my bowling, luckily everyone else more than made up for it. Great way to finish the season (pending decisions regarding the potential re-match...), hopefully a sign of better things to come next year for the Blues.

well as far as our bowling records go, there's not much to compare about. But looking at those I think I've done better than you. But we've both been underbowled really.
Ahh, sorry, I had no idea your record was that good...

Perhaps its your one day record Im remembering? Or is it good as well?

I think you're a curse for me. Every time I'm feeling good and batting well and you come in, I suddenly get out and hand you the not out. :p

I think i've made my point - why would.should the part timers be bowling instead of the 4 specialists in the team? Sure it mixes things up....but thats what the bowlers are there for in teh first place!!
Often the so called 'part-timers' have very good bowling records - better than the specialists!

Tell me, who is a better bowler, Flintoff or Hondo?

Just becuase you cant bat doesnt mean youre a better bowler than someone that can!

Flintoff is an all-rounder, not a part timer. A more apt question would be: who is a better bowler, Andrew Flintoff or Michael Vaughan?

But Im an allrounder, not a part timer, and so is Dinu!

Thats my point. You talk about us like we are Vaughan when we are really Flintoff...

Anyway, this bickering is getting silly, we actually won for a change!

Yes, but the point is that we have four specialist bowlers and three all-rounders who have had successful years with the ball in the team, and not everyone can get a bowl. So it's not an issue of anybody being underbowled, it's an issue of there only being so many overs to go around, and the captain will throw the ball to those he thinks are most likely to get the job done.

It's like me complaining because I don't get a chance to bat in the top four. Maybe I would like to, but there are already established players in that position.

You may be Flintoff if you say so, but there is no Hondo equivalent in our bowling lineup. I think you should just make the most of the opportunities you get, and you and Dinu have had plenty of opportunities with the bat. The fact is that we have at least seven established bowlers, six of whom have career averages under 30 (Halsey, Patrick, Demeza, Camps, Popat, myself, + Fuller, who averages a touch over 30). Simply put, there is no weak link in the bowling attack, and unproven bowlers can't expect to get more than a few overs at a time. Both you and Dinu have had a few short spells this season and picked up wickets cheaply - this will hold you in good stead for next season, but for the moment I think it is best to leave the experienced bowlers (all seven of them!) to share the significant bulk.

Yeah, I thought it was a really encouraging team performance. We hit two decent scores with the bat and everyone bowled really well. We didn't rely on Simon belting a big hundred or Demeza or someone taking a heap of wickets to win. Good signs for next season. :)

Good team performance boys, a very good win. Hopefully we can finsh off the 1Dayers in same fashion. I hope i get a another but it seems unlikely with Blaze getting a game and probably some of the guys that were rested in the last game coming back, but i can only hope that Liam saw some potential to give me another game. If i don't then i guess it overseas club cricket and trying to improve my game so im somewhere closer to the 1st XI. I think i might work on my batting and bowling equally, maybe a more all round game will help getting in the 1st XI, guess we have to wait and see.

Personally, I'd say Blue is more in need of specialists than all-rounders. We already have plenty of all-rounders, as you can see in the recent discussions in this thread. :p

True but Hasley the only specialist spinner that gets a game, unless i've missed something and there is another specialist spinner who get a regular game. So unless Laim is going to play 2 specialist spinners more often then im going to have to work on my batting as much as my bowling. Then u have Harris who can't get game, Tucker who can't get game and now Blaze with his 11 bowling ave. That four spin bowlers including myself on the bench.
