Flintoff - Don't Forget his stats are skewed because at one point he was a very average bowler but now he's one of the best in the world atm.
That goes for many many players.

I could go "Don't forget, Dravid's ODI stats are skewed because for many years in the 90s he was a pretty average ODI batsman." ;)

I'll go Freddy though, since it looks like he may be the man that could be the central point of cricket becoming very popular in England again.

Though one both great Lancashire men, i'll give it Freddie because he is the star at the moment.

My heart says Tyson but my head stays Flintoff.

Seeing as it is a cold, foggy, Monday morning here in NZ I shall go with Flintoff.

Not quite 24 hours, but I have to leave for work & the scores aren't close, so I'll call it. Freddie powers on, blowing out the Typhoon 13-6.

Next up, two contrasting heroes of England's post-war golden age. The original brylcreem boy v Fred's buddy George:

Battle of the Englishmen: Round1, Battle 12

Denis Compton
78 tests, 5807 runs @ 50.06 (17 centuries, 28 half-centuries), 25 wickets @ 56.40 (5 wicket innings: 1)

vs

Brian Statham
70 tests, 675 runs @ 11.44, 252 wickets @ 24.84 (5 wicket innings: 9, 10 wicket matches: 1)

Statham, not least because he doesn't resemble an information icon
Yeah, when I logged on briefly at work it showed as an ad for the site I procured the image from, but now back home it's Denis again.

Weird.
