The Battle of the Commentators

Jono

For Nasser. He's my favourite, but like others I'm also a big fan of Holding.

Seems like CWers have a love-hate r'ship with Tony Greig.

The battle now sits at an unprecidented 16-16

This battle closes at 11:14 am NZST. That's an hour and a quarter away. Anyone's game for the taking now.

Both are above average but For: Nasser

Not afraid to ask the obvious question and champion the not so obviously exciting aspects of the game.

A break from much of the macho business in the booth. Which is a suprise considering he was a hot-headed youth

Battle Six

Pommie Mbangwa vs David Gower

The Form Book: Mbangwa eased through in what was considered an tough draw against Harsha Bhogle and Navjot Sidhu. Gower faced the split of the Pom vote as he piled in against Jack Bannister and Jim Laker. Lucky for Gower, the voters appeared to have short memories as Bannister and Laker fell by the wayside to smooth Gower's path to round two.

Pommie Mbangwa

Playing Career: A total of 15 tests for Zimbabwe; with the lowest batting average out of any test cricketer batting for more than 10 innings; retired early at the age of 26 due to Zimbabwe's political problems
Commentating Pedigree: He moved quickly into the television commentary box, and has appeared to be a knowledgeable and articulate. He got his chance after impressing tv bosses during a post-test match interview.
Other: * Impressed during the 2007 Cricket World Cup

David Gower

Playing Career: An elegant left-handed batsman who enjoyed a successful test career for England in the 1980s.
Commentating Pedigree: Made the jump into commentary soon after his playing retirement, becoming an anchorman for Sky Sports' cricket commentary.
Other: * Took a short trip in a Tiger Moth airplane during a warm up game on a tour to Australia
* A team captain on BBC quiz show "They Think Its All Over" until he realised it was getting crap and jumped ship.
* Advocate for African Wildlife
