The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

JBMAC

State Captain
HI JBMAC Sir. Why do you want to choose Thommo over Lindwall, Davidson, McGrath and, even, Cummins?
JT was the perfect foil forLillee. He was decidedly quick and proved to be just what DKL wanted . It is hard to leave bowlers of that quality out of a side but I looked for a balance and proven attack from the bowlers I have seen and that just became a logical choice

The Tiger King
Australians I have seen play 11

Morris
Hayden/Simpson
Bradman
Smith
Harvey
Walters
Benaud (C)
Lillee
Thompson
Warne
Tallon (wk)

Found it difficult deciding between Simpson and Hayden .Hayden gives me 2 lefties to open but Simpson is more reliable and meets the needs of a right/left hands openers
Seen Bradman play

:notworthy:

Great to find that you have actively watched more than 7 decades of cricket. Huge respect:cheers:

Quite surprised that Miller wasn’t an automatic inclusion. Would certainly make a better fifth bowler than Walters.

Improving on your team a bit:

S.Gavaskar (India)
J. Hobbs (England)
D. Bradman (Australia) c
Kumar Sangakkara (S.Lanka)
G. Sobers (W.Indies)
A. Flower (Zimbabwe) wk
Shakib al Hasan (Bangladesh)
Imran Khan (Pakistan) vc
R. Hadlee (N.Zealand)
Dale Steyn (S.Africa)
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)

It almost doesn't feel right not having a South African all rounder or a West Indian quick, so you could substitute Kallis and Marshall in for Steyn and Sobers if you like.

There was this guy called Jack Badcock in the 20s and 30s. Killer FC record without much test success. Pretty obvious why I remember him.

Love the team and love him personally but just feels wrong to pick Hammond as a rep for the 40’s, would be like picking Ponting to represent the 2010’s.
