It's safe to say Gavin Robertson and Blocker Wilson in a favourite Australian team are something I never thought I would see

I've never heard of Paul Wilson either. Gavin Robertson was some crap off-spinner from the 90s IIRC.

Robertson and Wilson played tests in the 1997-98 series in India. Robertson had good success in the first innings of first test match in Chennai before fading away later. Wilson played one test match I reckon. A nice duo to play against in India.

I wasn't even aware Wilson was an umpire lol.

One thing I remember is that Ian Chappell kept calling him "Big Paul Wilson" literally everytime on commentary that series...

He was something similar in build to big Merv Hughes. Not comparable in mustache of course.

tbf to Wilson, for any country other than Aus or maybe SA he probably would have had a decent Test career, not a great one, but respectable
