****, what a great knock. Featuring a great bit of fielding there by Neil Fairbrother as well.

Just the balance of body and stillness of Sachin's head when he plays shots. Unreal.

I actually prefer tendulkar's batting 1989-1994 compared to later. He didn't make as many runs has he did in his best years, but he was a much freer batsman playing with nonchalance. And he was so young!

Have become a much bigger fan of him since he retired and I've realized that no-one else's conventional cricket shots look anywhere as compact and just, 'perfect'.

There seems to be too much of a human element to non-Sachin batsmen driving and cutting except maybe ABDv at times.

There is so much of fondness for Tendulkar not seen for other players. I have always wondered if it is because of his generally good nature or what is the reason for such massive fandom.

Genius does make things look so simple. This point re the shots being 'perfect' in ways, as you put it, is a main reason, now that I think of it. His style of play is so correct, even a non cricket related person can see it and get - this is how a straight drive should be played.

I'm not sure whether it's just myself growing up and becoming more worldly or myself being in a particularly worldly field now, but a lack of cultural understanding seems a reasonable excuse 7 years ago but totally unacceptable today.

Of course, being coach of the Indian cricket team should come with some expectation of cultural sensitivity so a lack of appreciation or tact is pretty poor from anyone in that position at any time.
Yeah but these guys just never get called on it because of who they are. GChapp is a God in Australia, so was Bradman. They don't work in normal environments where sensitivity is expected and people are educated accordingly. I'm sure he was stunned when he bumped into the wall he did although the stunning part for me is that India went for Chappell because his rep as a wrecking ball is well established. Maybe that's why they went for him....

India went for GC because Ganguly wanted him.
And Ganguly wanted him because Ganguly was in awe of his in-depth knowledge on batting technique when he helped Ganguly with some advice during a previous tour down under.

Wow, is GC really a God in Australia as you mentioned? Does he get more respect than S. Waugh or even Ponting?

Respect is such a strong term...... Deference is probably more accurate, much like Bradman.

What you basically said was "I am totally for cheating so long as it's deliberately cheating" though

In a way, yes. Find it difficult to get worked about chucking, batsmen taking advantage of the spirit of cricket to run halfway up the pitch before the ball is bowled and ball tampering. Ftr I do believe Sachin and Dravid should have been banned for breaking the rules.

Nice guy who has never said a ad thing about anyone, vvs Laxman, has come out potting Greg Chappell.

Yeah, does look like Chappell got things badly wrong there. VVS never says anything, nor does Sachin for that matter. Oh well, everyone has that one job which they sucked at. Not the end of the world.
