Yes Sachin told his wife Anjali - "hey I'm gonna write a lie about Greg Chappell and I'm making you a witness to that imaginary episode. I'm doing this because I'm jealous of Rahul Dravid as a batsman.

Don't you love me more for this darling?"
She is a good Indian wife.

@weldone CNN-IBN is showing a video of Harbhajan saying that what Sachin is saying is true and that Chappell was a two faced guy who believed in divide and rule.

I see. I thought you were referring to the incident at Tendulkar's home and making fun of Harbhajan.

Tendulkar did not study much. Did not complete school. His music love is alao hindi - mainly Kishore Kumar. He probably did not understand Chappell. ;-)
Why? Is Greg Chappell Wlliam Shakespeare or Beethoven?

This whole thing is blown out of propotion as most things related to SRT. It was a team of Dravid and Chappell and that Dravid didn't voice out against Chappell is important. They were trying to do a job and some things may work others may not.

SRT was never comfortable with Chappell. I remember India under Dravid and Chappell consistently changed the line up before the wc and SRT voiced out against it.

Man, that was stupid. You have the greatest opener in ODI history in your side and where do you make him bat? No.4 of course. FFS.

Some more
"Chappell seemed intent on dropping the older players and in the process damaged the harmony of the side. Once, he asked VVS Laxman to consider opening the batting. Laxman politely turned him down, saying he had tried opening in the first half of his career because he was confused, but now he was settled in the middle order.

"Greg's response stunned us all. He told Laxman he should be careful, because making a comeback at the age of 32 might not be easy."

I find the whole bit about Chappell extremely tedious. There have been conspiracy theorists saying he was this guy sent by Australia at the time as Indian cricket was really doing well. Chappell was man who would break Indian cricket to ensure the status quo of Australian dominance is maintained. Maybe, just maybe, Chappell was just a terrible coach? He didn't have a great record before coaching the Indian team. He tried to implement his ideas and they were not very good. Manager-main players frictions happen all the time in football. Just because this was cricket and Indian cricket which is so huge in people's consciousness, there is the natural instinct to make it some thing bigger than what it already is.

One of the most ironic things in this is that Ganguly brought Chappell in but Chappell obviously didn't believe Ganguly was any good (his test record at the time was terrible for what it's worth) and Chappell wanted to get him out of the team.

Chappell obviously had the worst sense of timing or tact - the Ganguly controversy happened mid tour in Zimbabwe and the Tendulkar-Dravid bit was at Tendulkar's home just before the WC.

DONT DO IT YOU'll REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE - JR as it becomes apparent Rahul is gonna declare on Sachin

(any excuse to post https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGk1N5hB2HA)
Best moment ever. Lost all my ****.

Edit: I actually like the incomprehensible cry of shock that Lawler lets out when Rikishi jumps just as much as the JR call. Both complemented each other perfectly.
