Tendulkar Autobiography Thread

Chappell is an absolutely brilliant cricket mind. Have heard him speak about his theories on cricket, and they are very interesting and make a lot of sense. But he has a lot of "There's only one way to do this...", and he has a natural stand-offishness that I can see would be hard to play for; the opposite of someone like Boof.

more than one in greg chappell's case though

I still think he was a worse selector than Hilditch.

wow, would never have thought GC commanded that sort of respect/deference in aus. Is it the same for Ian Chappell?
Commands respect on the speaking circuit more than amongst players, is my read. Sad because he'd be better value as a specialist coach than Greg.

Think I remember they don't get on either?

Tendulkar: "Ian wrote an article saying I should look at myself in the mirror when I was in bad for in 2006-07. A few years later, when I became Cricketer of the year, I made it a point to remind him that he got it wrong"

:D

yeah, this seems like the best cricket book in ages haha. This is definitely going into my cricket archives (probably resting next to All Round View :p)

I wonder if he takes a swipe at Imran for calling under rating him over the years or for terming him being not too great a match winner

The good bit about this is that Sachin is one of less-than-a-handful of ex-cricketers in the world right now who can legitimately, and without consequence/retaliation, criticize the kind of huge reputations that are Greg and Ian Chappell (whether he should do it or not is a separate matter, of course).

I know it's bad form to say he is a greater batsman than Chappell, but his achievements are definitely much more awesome, and nobody in their right mind can say he does not speak from a position of absolute authority when it comes to batting (this applies to what he said about Chappelli).

The wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was standing up to the stumps at the time and was in the best position to see if the ball had touched Rahul's bat. Yet he who prided himself on walking off if he nicked the ball appealed for the caught-behind and to our disbelief we saw the umpire raise the finger. It was a shocking decision. Some of us actually wondered if Rahul had been given out lbw
Oh, man this is great. This is like Austin shedding the Ringmaster rubbish and becoming an S.O.B.

You sit there and you blurt abuses and, your mental disintegration and it didn't get you anywhere. Talk about your Bensons, Your Bucknor 3:16, Well Sachin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass

Indian cricket's attitude era is underway. #ThankYouSachin

Yeah I guess the umpiring Was always perfect in the subcontinent.

Atleast theres a method in place now to stop these horrible decisions.

Oh wait.

Seriously how dumb are Sachin and his mates.

 fair play if you were trying to troll me.

And its a fair point anyway. If Tendulkar wants to complain so bitterly about a couple decisions that went against his team 8 years ago it just reinforces the stupidity of his oposition towards the review system.

I'm just disappointed that I wasn't here when Monkeygate actually happened. That had to be a fun time :p

Anyway, it happened so long ago that I think most people laugh about it now. Even though it hurt like a bitch. I think it's got to be really hard for the players involved though. That's a scar that'll never heal, and I'm dead sure every player from both teams still has a vault locked in somewhere within themselves that's just waiting to be opened to spill out their venom at the other camp. Just an endless pool of poison.

Regarding the bolded line, I never thought about that. ****ing hilarious and true. Someone please point this out to Sachin to avoid a Sydney 2014 ffs.
