Anyone give the Waratahs any ghost of a show in Auckland? Think they've won once there in 90 odd years.

Yep. The Blues are a team slowly coming off the boil (that was an average Highlanders team by the end of the round robin) while the Waratahs seem to be gaining momentum.

Waratahs are definitely a chance against the Blues given the performances that the Blues have produced over the last month. I don't think losing Toeava was the one turning point to put that form down to but since they've been without him their results have certainly dropped off. Should be a closer contest than the Crusaders vs Sharks anyway. Interesting that the Sharks had Michalak playing for them against the Bulls, as if there weren't enough surprise Super Rugby comebacks this year.

Thinking I might go to the game on Friday. Given my impressive history of jinxing, that should give the Waratahs a big boost.

Wow, what a game at Loftus. Didn't give the Sharks a pray, given the Bulls were on a 6 game winning streak, were at home and it was the last game for Matfield, Bakkies, Gary Botha, du Preez, Dinosaur and Steenkamp with the franchise. Wouldn’t expect either them or the Canes to be competitive next year.

As for the Shakrs, they were written off before Saturday, so nothing to lose in Nelson.

And the flake was instrumental in the win, had a great game. But as you said, this should be a no-contest. Sharks have only ever beaten the Crusaders twice in Super Rugby, all in Durban and the last time they beat them was way back in 2007. Gotta fancy the Crusaders to go all the way, especially given their and other NZ sides record at Newlands.

Two points for a correct tip.

Tahs - No Baxter, TPN, Burgess, Barnes, or Halangahu. And Beale at 10 instead of 15.
Have called in a reserve grade hooker from clubland...last time that happened it was a bloke called Phil Kearns....i don't think Elvis is quite up to that standard.

Blues by 15+ imo.

Not that I should be talking given I'm not at the match, but looks like a very scarce crowd at Eden Park for a supposedly crucial Super Rugby knockout match. In contrast I imagine they'll pack the grounds in Nelson, Cape Town and Brisbane for the other semi finals. Don't think the Blues can complain at their five point lead, been pretty even and had Rokocoko's forward pass which ultimately ended in Munro's try been picked up, the Tahs might well've been leading at the break. Beale's looking so dangerous, could be the difference if Brett carries on with his inconsistent first half efforts.

Better second half from the Blues, though the Waratahs' weakened squad was certainly shown up. Injury factor could be crucial for next week's match, most likely against the Reds - lots of minor knocks for players on both sides by the looks of it so thats an advantage for the Reds who have the week off (and deservedly so given they topped the table). Thought Ali Williams had his best game of the year and Luke Braid was also generally very strong.
