"Best opener since Gavaskar" might actually be a good poll. I'd probably vote for Smith but I can see the argument for Boycott. Terrible posters would vote for players like Hayden and Cook too.

Be a difficult argument for Boycott to win seeing as he daybooed seven years before Sunny.

Yeah, he played for England from the 60s to the 80s then became a commentator. Retired as the highest run scorer in tests. I'd have thought you would have heard of him

Gavaskar only due to his record against West Indies; including that crazy ass pace line-up. It's pretty tricky as Hammond really had no competitor except Australia.

I've always felt like both were slightly over rated and neither's record were without their caveats.
