Sunil Gavaskar
Wally Hammond
Yeah I could go either way.Hobbs #2 imo
OkGavaskar is clearly ahead of Kallis.
Yes20 years from now, would Viv still be seen as better than Michael Hussey?
I find it doubtful, but maybe in 2045, Viv would still be seen as about Chanderpaul level.
His record doesn't read that impressive, I guess after this generation he'll be seen as about Chanderpaul level considering Chanders has far more runs and better average. People like Sangakkara, Kallis, Dravid, Waugh all have records that read more impressive to the untrained eye. Even on this site, people think Gavaskar/Chappel/Border have arguments over him, and some of them are much better than him and all, so we're already moving to it.Viv averages 50 so think he’ll always be seen as a top tier ATG.
The same level as Sutcliffe and Gavaskar. Not “much” higher than Viv.I mean, you rate Hutton at around the same level as Hammond and Sutcliffe and much higher than Viv, no??
Because you’re always complaining Viv’s rating here is falling and conversely Hutton’s rating here seems to be increasing.I like both so rate both, I find Viv underrated yeah but I don't know what that has to do with Hutton tbh
See above - what planet are you living on? Apart from myself and @Prince EWS I don’t recall recently seeing anyone having him below 9? I’m not even sure where PEWS actually would rank him.@Coronis don't really think me having Viv as a cojoined #4 or #5 is a big deal either, most people don't have him in their top 8/9, he's destined to slip out the top 10.
I mean, I'm fine with Hutton going up, I like him quite a bit and rate him very highly so that's good to me, completely different case.Because you’re always complaining Viv’s rating here is falling and conversely Hutton’s rating here seems to be increasing.
As I said, basically their collective rankings seem to have reversed and yet people such as yourself are the ones who are complaining about it, which makes no sense.
See - The 2024 vs 2022 poll rankings
2022
5 - Viv
6 - Lara
7 - Hutton
2024
5 - Hutton
6 - Lara
7 - Viv
well maybe he'd make top 8/9 for many people, tho I think there'll be a good bit placing Hammond/Gavaskar above.See above - what planet are you living on? Apart from myself and PEWS I don’t recall recently seeing anyone having him below 9? I’m not even sure where PEWS actually would rank him.
Imo viv >smith. Not sure many would agreeI mean, I'm fine with Hutton going up, I like him quite a bit and rate him very highly so that's good to me, completely different case.
let's be fair now, Viv also falls from #7 to #8 in majority opinion because people rate Smith higher right now, Smith won the peak comparision, Smith crushed the post-peak contest.
so from #5 to #7 to #8 in three years, what's stopping people from deciding Gavaskar and Hammond are better too? their records read better on paper, and slowly, I think it's pretty clear that by say 2028-9 Viv wouldn't be rated in top 10, probably not top 15 by 2033 then? and it makes sense, his record doesn't read as good as some of the others above him.

Please show me anyone else who has? Stop bullshitting so much.I mean, I'm fine with Hutton going up, I like him quite a bit and rate him very highly so that's good to me, completely different case.

I mean I meant re: people rating him 8/9/10 but ok.
The rankings you posted showed he was #7 in 2024, now that Smith made some tons against Bumrah and mighty Lanka, he is rated higher or no?I mean I meant re: people rating him 8/9/10 but ok.
Viv himself knew Gavaskar was better. Please show me anyone else who has? Stop bullshitting so much.
I honestly am not sure anyone is rating Smith really highly for the SL tons, atleast here. Re BGT, he was decent. That's it. 2 Centuries and nothing more, a.k.a, one over Kohli. Good but nothing special. The rankings you posted showed he was #7 in 2024, now that Smith made some tons against Bumrah and mighty Lanka, he is rated higher or no?
I wouldn’t know. iirc I’ve seen people saying in the post peak thread that his SL tons don’t matter and he scored two tons in B/G but only averaged xx so he was ****. Its hard to predict tbh. People also seem to get quite aggressive in certain one on one comparisons involving certain players. The rankings you posted showed he was #7 in 2024, now that Smith made some tons against Bumrah and mighty Lanka, he is rated higher or no?
