let's be fair now, Viv also falls from #7 to #8 in majority opinion because people rate Smith higher right now, Smith won the peak comparision, Smith crushed the post-peak contest.
so from #5 to #7 to #8 in three years, what's stopping people from deciding Gavaskar and Hammond are better too? their records read better on paper, and slowly, I think it's pretty clear that by say 2028-9 Viv wouldn't be rated in top 10, probably not top 15 by 2033 then? and it makes sense, his record doesn't read as good as some of the others above him.
well maybe he'd make top 8/9 for many people, tho I think there'll be a good bit placing Hammond/Gavaskar above.
