South Africa team selection

Apparently Neil Brand went to the exclusive King's College in Taunton. That's across the road from the state Richard Huish sixth form college Jack Leach (and some of my family) attended.

Kings is also where long-departed British South African CWer Langeveldt went to school for those who remember him.

Peak Chubb post.

Peak Chubb post.
This popped up on my Facebook as a suggested post as I still follow several Somerset and Devon cricket pages.

But yes, the Richard Huish/Kings comparison is one of the formative reasons for my well-documented issues. And while I personally never had beef with Langeveldt, the way he used to talk about "ordinary" people in Taunton (and the UK) was pretty unpleasant IMO given his privilege.

He also made his first class cricket debut in the UK by going to University in Wales.

Is Qeshile playing SA 20? If not that is very surprising he is not picked
Don't think so, Shukri rated him behind Fortuin, this may be that shukri has western cape cape town routes and rates chad above him as a keeper and batter. All coaches have players they prefer who may not be the best individually like the springboks team.

Fortuin is 4 years older than Qeshile and averages 27 with the bat from 74 FC games mainly in Division 2 or semi provincial, Qeshile averages 37 from 47 FC games and has only played Division 1 plus played for SA A v Ind A recently, add to the fact CSA are supposed to promote young black African cricketers where ever possible makes it even more bizarre..

Matthew Kleinveldt Profile - Cricket Player England | Stats, Records, Video (espncricinfo.com) Surely you are thinking of this fella? I recall Rory Kleinveldt playing for South Africa and having a vague recollection of him having UK based relative. This is more likely.

* This is in response to Chubb's post nearer the top of the page.
Nah he was talking about the forum member @Langeveldt. I can see how that'd be confusing given there was also a Test cricketer by that name though.

Not saying I agree with Shukri, but that squad he picked the A team vs west indis a in that 3 test match series was always basically going to be the sa squad for nz

Tbf he announced a retirement from red ball cricket, he did have a successful FC career for titans. The media just ran with the headline of test cricket.
It can't be a coincidence that Klaasen was not picked for the Indian series and then retires a week later , Conrad knew about it, just did not want to be the one to tell us first..All that talk about backing Verrynne was nonsense otherwise he would have picked him for the West Indies series last March, his hand was forced with Klaasen retiring lol
