South Africa Domestic Season 2024/25

Brevis with a ton. Definitely pushing for the chance to be the next cab off the rank. We know Bavuma is a doubt for the 1st Test so I wonder if he is a bolter above Rickelton?

Also can someone explain to me how Fortuin has reeled off two Hundreds in Franchise cricket? That's more than Muthusamy has at this level right @SeamUp ? Genuinely looks like a decent 9 at International level.
It is pretty impressive and under-the-radar. Didn't he play a handy knock in UAE recently. Him, Linde, Simmonds all pretty handy with the bat. All have top tier 100s

For the 100s not including 3-day park cricket

Fortuin 6 (2 Lions, 4 Gauteng Lions)
Linde 5 (3 Cobras , 1 WP, 1 Kent)
Muthusamy 2 (1 Dolphins, 1 Dragons)
Simmonds 2 (2 WP)

In terms of batting ability I would have had Fortuin below Sen and Linde. Surprised by that.

It's why I'm not overly enthused about Sen. His bowling fell off a cliff going to the highveld too. But you can't complain about his last test contribution. Seems a top guy as well.

I've mentioned it before but his game is just very suited to low bounce pitches. That's why he is effective in Durban and why he did well in Bangladesh as well as made a couple of contributions in India.

De Swardt really making a push to get back into the Test Team. Mulder has the bigger ceiling but he is doing everything right at the moment.

If Mulder's not fit for Pakistan then De Swardt looks like the most suitable replacement.

With a shortage of all rounders I can't believe Corbin Bosch has not won a cap in any format.
I don't know what his recent form is like, but his bowling average is above 35 in all formats, and not having any centuries to his name means that his batting isn't quite good enough either.

Disagree , his batting is very explosive and has become quite a good finisher while striking at over 100 in 50 over cricket, and he bowls 140+ ...Pure stats aren't everything

His stats are a bit meh & watching him bowl can be such a chore too even if he can get it over 140. Just doesn't look pretty. Just personal opinion.

Interesting seeing Dale tweet this in CSA T20. Robbie P bought him before the auction as a wildcard in SA20 too.

Stats do give you an idea, but I agree that they aren't everything, which is why I made a comment about recent form as that can be more telling (compare Bavuma's overall test career with his record in the past few years). So maybe he's been better recently than his career averages, but if that's the case then it would mean that his earlier performances must have been worse, and that's why he was never picked.

Yup, started off really slowly. Was averaging 50+

Was player of the match in U19 CWC final we won under Markram.

No surprises here but Riley Norton has chosen rugby & will not be at the Khaya Majola Cricket Week for Boland.

Also 2 WP U16 cricket players in Litha Kraai (SACS & hockey) & Josh Neill (Rondebosch & rugby) look to be going for their other sports too. Litha was picked for the SA men's hockey team at 16. Josh Neill made SA Schools rugby at 17 & is in the Elite Training camp. Been told he is an excellent flanker.

Ben Hockly (17) who recently represented the SA Emerging team has started Colts cricket with a bang. Wonder if he debuts for Tuskers before Dolphins come in.

Looks a potential all-format star as he got 70-odd in his ,50-over debut for the Colts + shone in the Tuskers T20 league.

Whole day yday rained out at Newlands & only starting now for WP v Knights

Great to see Juan James back & Oliver Whitehead makes his 4-day debut with Linde back with the Proteas.

Also Jody Lawrence made his WP debut last round. Reward for a successful over decade long club career.
