Linked with the England job…
I found it laughable that Matt Hayden said 'god help us' or something to that tune if Langer coached England. Why would anyone pretend that would be anything other than an unmitigated disaster? And furthermore, surely we're all aware the depth of England's troubles go far deeper than the coach of their national side? Holy hell. Imagine Langer coaching them on the last tour. Guys would be swimming home to avoid him on an intense, COVID affected 2-3 month tour. And is Langer even a decent technical coach? Not what I've heard.

John Buchanan made an interesting observation that perhaps a source of tension between Langer and the players last year was how several players (including Cummins) pulled out of international T20 tours but were available for the IPL.
Langer would find tension if someone changed the part in their hair, Monty Burns baseball coaching style. What else has he had tension with? Toasted sandwiches...videos on the internet...rubbish bins...let's not pretend like a T20 tour is all that significant in what's happened. And maybe that's the issue with Langer too - he can't wrap his head around the fact players would rather pick up an IPL gig for the good of their future over a bunch of T20 internationals, which PEWS quite rightly says are total BS.

And oh, the irony of Warne 'hitting out' at the treatment of a coach. Then going on to say even though half the team didn't like him, they 'respected the position'. He'd have to be the worst media performer there is going around.

There will be rain, just not enough for Australia to beat us. It's a proven fact we'd have won the last one held in a non-police state 5-0 if Anderson hadn't got injured on day 1.

Whatever it takes!!!
Reacting to the news of Langer's resignation, Hayden sent a clear message to the ECB, saying: "Sign him up. If he can turn Cricket Australia around in four years, imagine what he could do with the England Cricket Board. God help us."
Yeah man, I was just attempting sarcasm there.

Since the latest narrative is that it’s all just senior players who want him gone and none of the new guys had issues, a reminder that one of the documented incidents of him blowing up randomly at someone involved Nathan Ellis, who had played exactly 0 games for Australia at the time

New guys never have issues, they're always just happy to be in the environment. Or they don't know where the connections and the influence lies, so they're too aware of speaking up.

The coverage of this whole thing is so 2022. No real substance around the matter, whether Langer was a good coach/started off as a good coach and drifted/needs a certain structure around him etc - just talking heads spewing out a whole bunch of stuff, plus some innuendo and Twitter-based shite. Welcome to modern-day media, where you never get to learn too much but you certainly get to feel emotional about it all.

you have to remember that Nathan Ellis was wearing a watch, and our cricketers simply can't wear watches
