I can't say anything more for legal reasons. Here's hoping that Murphy gets up in the court case though.

"After an intense training period, I feel that this squad is a definite improvement on our previous line up of players, though most of this is due to the WCC management increasing the amount of players each team may have in a squad.
"(We) haven't appointed a 2nd XI manager yet, although the position has been offered to a rookie manager outside of the WCC" Mr Thomas later said.
Sources believe that this 'rookie manager' is one Nick Hancock, who is yet to be involved in team management.
Mr Thomas then went on to say "Intensive training starts now. We're going to work hard before season starts to gel as a team and be ready to take it to (the) other teams in our divisions.
"We are also pleased with the rookies appointed to us. There's a lot of talent there especially in Belle who we've made Captain of the 2nd's which shows you how promising a player he is.
"With the retirement of Hamilton and Simpson, two of Yorkshire's stalwart all-rounders, there's been a gap in that position. This season we've signed a number of replacement's who we know can fill the role they (Hamilton & Simpson) played.
"Regarding the rumours surrounding Darren (Gough), I can confirm that he will retire from cricket after this season. He has already stepped down from the First Class squad to allow the younger players to develop, although if injuries occur he will be available to step up and help us out in that department.
"About our chances for promotion this season...we are hopeful that we will be able to get promotion to Division 2 in One Day, since our side has improved immensley in that form. In First Class I think will we will be right up there, though promotion seems unlikely. Personally, I am looking forward to Season 10, where I think our side will improve a lot from our current squad in the next few seasons, make Division 1 and take out the title. Thank you."

Mashonaland reveals First XI

Mashonaland manager Andy Cameron today revealed the team that will take the field for the first FC game for the Zimbabwean side. The team was somewhat different from the one initially suggested by Cameron during the draft, but with the draft and trading both over, the Mashonaland squad is finalised for the upcoming season.

Cameron mentioned that "both batting and bowling have been improved considerably from last season, and we are quite confident going into this season."

Cameron then detailed the team which will be represnting the side, which was:

Code:
Player	Batting	Bowling	SR Average
Q Oulton 57	Spin	45.5	24.12
J Lewis 50.7
Q Roll 51
W Gibbs 52
P Mullick 48.7
S Tikolo 46.7
B Straw 40	Medium	37.6	21.31
J Midlane 43.3	WK
B Joshi 15.6	Spin	33.8	22.93
D Prasad 9.4	Fast	39.5	21.07
B Matthie 7.5	Fast	41.9	19.55
When asked about captaincy, Cameron confirmed what most experts had expected, in saying that veteran opener James Lewis will be leading the team.

"Lewis is the most experienced player in the team, and we know that he'll be able to use that experience to lead the team effectively. Although we had initially expected Martin Love to captain the side, he was recently traded to Yorkshire, paving the way for Lewis to show his captaincy credentials. As was announced before, Quentin [Oulton], James' opening partner, will be vice-captaining the side. We feel that it is important for youngsters to gain captaincy experience, and hopefully Quentin will be leading the team in a few seasons."

Oulton blasts Freeman picture

Mashonaland rookie batsman Quentin Oulton has blasted Lancashire's star bowler Albus Freeman's decision to appear in a risque photo shoot for 'Men's Health.'

In a candid interview with a reporter earlier today, Oulton described the picture as "about as manly a tampon," and claimed that he would be "ashamed to be his teammate."

The black and white picture, which features a completely naked Freeman arched over backwards in front of a scene of rolling clouds, was printed in the glossy magazine's most recent addition, and comes after a two page shoot featuring Kent manager Stephen Burke, which was fortunately recalled after the editors realised what they'd done.

Oulton went on to say that, if Freeman were to appear in any photo shoots or promotional work, he should "at least do it for something manly, such as beer." The batsman cited his recent appearance in Carlton Draught's 'Big Ad' as a perfect example. "If you freeze it during the final image, you can actually see me in the bottom left of the picture, enjoying a beer."

The batsman, who endured a shocking run of form in the pre-season friendlies, has already been targeted by Mashonaland manager Andy Cameron as being one of the linch pins of the team. He has, however, had a reputation for a short temper, such as when he stepped in to deal with the drunken Stephen Burke during the revealing of WCC's new advertising campaign back in April.

He dismissed these rumours with the reporter yesterday. "I simply say what's on my mind. I have nothing against Freeman himself, for example, it's just that I feel this photo is a rather odd thing to do when he should be focusing on the upcoming season, rather than how his hair looks."

And his form? "I'm confident that I can pick up my game for the Queensland opener coming up."

Freeman: No regrets

Young Lancashire star Albus Freeman hit back at the criticism he has received as a result of his photo shoot with Men's Health. Freeman referred to the comments as 'pure jealousy' adding that he was glad he looked after his body unlike some of his more bulky counterparts. The shoot, said Albus, was completed in between heavy training sessions ahead of the new season and represented nothing more than 'a bit of fun.'

"I've had several letters complementing me on my physique, including one from a Mrs Oulton, who said she wished her husband put a bit more effort into his personal fitness - she included a nice photo aswell. Admittedly some of them were a bit scary, but the police are dealing with that now."

"I'm sure i'll get a bit of a ribbing from the lads in the changing room, and maybe there might be some banter out in the middle, but I'm confident I can rise above it."

Freeman will make his Lancashire debut in the up and coming season opener with Leicestershire.

Freeman a cheat and query at match officials

Leics management on review of the game are querying the match officials of scorers and umpires alike as to why A Freeman batted twice in the 2nd innings. That said the scores reflect he scored 10 both times, yet on closer inspection

Freeman© ct Platt© b Ezard© 0
Balls 2 4's 0 6's 0

Freeman© lbw b Ezard© 10
Balls 26 4's 1 6's 0

That means 10 less runs, thus Leics winning by 4 :p. Although we are not critically claiming the victory such answers would be very much appreciated as to why the officials could not only miss a person batting twice but miscalculate the tally at the end :) although totally the scores 264 is correct with freeman getting 0 and 10.
