The report further questioned whether it is wrong to be exalted in someone's celebration when they are pointing towards their own dressing room.

"Is it even wrong to be exalted in your celebration and that too when you are pointing towards your own dressing room," the source added.

Wow. Is it even wrong to be exalted in someone's celebration when they are pointing towards their own dressing room?

The 5 or below thing doesn't really hold water. It's too much of a sample, and besides runs at 5 translate to 4 and and even 3. I don't know what kind of new ball aces he was needing to be hidden from that is relevant.
I mean it's perfectly fine though? Very few batters that have come into the team setup have been lower than 5, and those that have have been the likes of Saha, Jadeja and Pant among a few others. Batting at 5 generally means he is on average not playing the better bowlers as often in tougher conditions, and Ranji bowlers are generally worse than Test level bowlers from opening to 5th options. It's a fair question to ask if he's been sufficiently tested like most of the other current and past Indian Test batters picked solely for batting.

India really should give this guy a chance in tests. Way too much politics being played here. They talk about fitness have they not seen how Rohit looks. But most of their batters are getting older now.
No - hes overweight. Looks matter dont they? Most of the guys coming in- they meet the BCCI 'mould' after all BCCI is an industry that has to make money selling tickets and product endorsements.

he was pointing to his coach Muzumdar for celebration here with whom he has a good rapport, cannot believe this has become a controversy now

the same shits were saying SKY had attitude issues and was hated by everyone when he was snubbed for t20 2 years back. since he came in there hasn’t been a single complaint about him

Obviously political as selectors need some justification for his omission after being called out by Sunny and others

on the other hand most blokes even batting five in domestix aren’t running around with an eighty average

How is it political to not pick a guy because he doesn't meet your private criteria for selecting batters? Did I miss the part where CWeb became telepaths or what?

That's fair, but this isn't something unique to Sarfaraz though, there've been batters with good numbers lower down the order who can't get in. And even then, it's not like Sarfaraz will never get a game. He just has to step it up more and make it more embarrassing for people to ignore.

i think the the jist of his point is that the manufactured controversy about the pointing thing is sort of running interference for the selectors, hiding them from any criticism

Whatever it takes!!!
The real elephant in the room is the lack of A tours. Averaging 80 batting 5 or lower in Ranji does mean you have a few asterisks next to that average. But this is exactly what the A system is supposed to help us do, weed out the statistical outliers and identify the players with proper potential. If we had more A tours, this would not have been a controversy IMO.
