Rugby League Tri-Nations 2005

I am so relieved we got up! The match was far better quality than last week's. Australia still seemed at times in defence like they weren't 100% switched on though. I think Toopi's absence was felt by NZ, and Vagana seemed to go missing in the 2nd half. Lastly, Mark Gasnier is a freak. What a try, no one else in the game can do that with such ease so often.

I haven't actually seen Gasnier's try, but I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of someone who could.

Put Lyon back in the NRL and you'll see he's good, but not as unbelievably awesome as Gasnier. It's a pity both of them have terrible mental attitudes towards the game

Gasnier at his best is a class above Lyon. Nothing that Lyon has done comes close to what Gasiner has done in the last two years. Both are brilliant players but Gasnier turns it on more often at the highest level.

I have to agree that Gasnier is an amazing centre when he is at the top of the game, but he can be flakey somtimes and can put in some dreadful performances. Definitely could be considered an all time great if he can get his mind into gear and have several solid seasons.

You beauty. Smashed the Poms 42-26. Now they have to beat Aus in at least one match to make the final.

New Zealand beat GB at rugby league? Not my sport at all, but that's quite something isn't it? How many times has that happened before?

Scoreline's a bit harsh, but we def came second. Massive hit by Tony on Gilmour about ten from the end.

Yeah, looked like they clashed heads.

Scoreline could have been worse if one of those video ref decisions went our way. The second one looked a try to me. The first was a blatent knock on that your wonderfully objective commentators failed to pick up on.

Brian Carney and Martin Gleeson had shockers. Toopi **** all over Gleeson all game. Cunningham had a ripper, though. Why doesn't he play like that for Saints any more?
I'm not impressed with Brian Noble at all. Not starting with Morley, when you need your best players on the field for a strong start, and forcing Sinfield to play 5/8, thus leaving our two best halves (Harris and Horne) no place in the side, all because he couldn't bare to not put any of his Bradford favourites - Fielden, Peacock (our weakest link in the forwards, imo) or Johnson - on the bench.

Jeez. Webb, Webster, Whatuira, Toopi, Vatuvei, Vagana, Jones, Rauhihi, Wiki. What a bunch of players. Total destruction. How could GB possibly match that?

Will Jones carry on until the final, you reckon?

Pity they haven't done anything for the warriors in over 2 years.

Jones won't play the next match, will play the final IMO if we make it.

I had no idea... I thought NZ sucked at League. Shows you how little I know about it. I have never been further north than Norfolk in my life, so it's not entirely surprising. I like Union lots more. I don't look down on League at all, it's just not something I have been brought up with.

Did you know that we beat Australia two weeks ago?

Yes, now I do, and it's very good to see another team from my other country beat them at something.

Is GB ever going to play Australia in Australia?
What?!?!?! Us? Travel halfway around the world for a game of rugby? What do you think we are? Mad? Pro-active? Well, let me tell you, boy. We're neither. We know we're onto a good thing, and we intend to keep it. We're not getting off our arses and running down there any time soon. We'll just bank on your ever large appetites for "thrashing the poms" to kick in every year, and you'll be begging us to let you come over and rack up 50 points on us.
