Round of 16 matches

Would be so keen if Algeria got through and they played their colonial oppressors in the next round
Would guess about half the Algerian team is actually French by birth, tbf.

The lad who plays (occasionally) for T*ttenham, Bentaleb, is a former French youth international

Madjid Bougherra is most definitely French by birth, as are his parents.

The high proportion of French-born players is why Algeria are quite good for an African side. Would be an interesting side if the likes of Benzema and Nasri had opted to play for then as well.

This has turned into a bit of a stale mate the past few minutes.

Algeria still hanging tough though.

Jeez the Kraut goalie thinks outside the box, doesn't he?

What'll happen is that Algeria will look good for an hour without really creating anything clear cut, then drop off and then concede with ten to go, though. At least, that seems to be the pattern in these matches thus far.
On cue, almost

Ruthless German efficiency, eh?

Jesus, I'd have been embarrassed if England had effed up a free kick like that.

Neuer is the new Beckenbauer: fact.

Germany's center backs better be buying Neuer a few beers if they win this

Germany have actually been good in the second half. Continues at this trend and penalties won't be needed.
