tbf he didn't have time to think, his natural momentum took his foot there, and the ref sent him off for the push on ronaldo
He was being wrestled by 2 players, accidenlty steps on a player. Ref gives a free kick. Fair enough though the free kick should have gone the other way.

Gentle push on ****aldo and a red card. Ive never seen anything like it. Hands to the face is a red card a gentle push in the chest is nothing. I wish certain people dead. Dramatic, maybe, but true.

fair enough. He's not the got the coolest head that's for sure, wouldn't like to be between him an Ronaldo in the first training session back at carrington.
I guess they forget their club allegiances/team mates when the country badge is one the shirt.

Hard luck England. Was a good performance, your best of the tournament so far, but you can't win a penalty shootout to save your lives.

Hargreaves was wonderful, and I hope those who relentlessly bashed him for no reason saw his performance for what it was. Crouch was also excellent after coming on.

Frank Lampard is a joke.

This is a warning right now, any bad language/abuse/trolling, etc will not be tolerated.
I suspect this may qualify. No purpose but to wind people up

A PORTUGUESA

Hero'is do mar, nobre povo,
Nac,a~o valente, imortal
Levantai hoje de novo,
O esplendor de Portugal
Entre as brumas da memo'ria,
O' pa'tria sente-se a voz
Dos teus egre'gios avo's
Que ha'-de guiar-te `a vito'ria.

`As armas! `As armas!
Sobre a terra e sobre o mar!
`As armas! `As armas!
Pela Pa'tria lutar!

Contra os canho~es marchar, marchar!

Desfralda a invicta bandeira
`A luz viva do teu ce'u
Brade a Europa `a terra inteira
Portugal na~o pereceu!
Beija o solo teu jucundo
O oceano a rujir d'amor
E o teu brac,o vencedor
Deu mundos novos ao Mundo!

[coro]

Saudai o sol que desponta
Sobre um ridente porvir;
Seja o eco d'uma afronta
O sinal de ressurgir.
Raios d'essa aurora forte
Sa~o como beijos de ma~e
Que nos guardam, nos suste^m,
Contra as inju'rias da sorte.

Not a chance.

I don't think either the squad or the coach were good enough to win a World Cup, but England's biggest problem is its mentality. In all the sports they play, England's national side tends to play overly cautious. Whether it's fear of being villified by the press, I don't know, but it's only ever paid off once - and that's because union rewards teams too cowardly to chuck the ball around as long as they have a decent kicker.
England are overly cautious because they were being managed by a vegetable, you can't tell me England were overly cautious in the Ashes, or English players are overly cautious in the Premiership or CL. Or come up with your usual nonsense if stuff disproves your theory, England won't win things very often because they've only around 50 million people on a small island and most of those people are southern softies. However England's squad was easily good enough to allow them to win a World Cup, even if it was only like a 6-1 type shot they still had better players in their squad than any European side.

England should have been given a rousing team talk from any of the lot from the '66 World Cup winning side, instead they got political-speak sloblock from a vegetable who couldn't outwit a used tea-bag. The vegetable has yet again managed to find just about the only plausible way of getting knocked out by Portugal, a side that even with a man advantage knew they were second best.

[I have edited this post] There are a whole bunch of teams I don't like in the semis, regardless of who progresses of France/Brazil, but I will even support the Germans over the Portugese, I have never seen such diving and such ...can't find a word... basically they are like a bunch of kids telling the teacher off someone.

Four-four-two - it was clear that the English were much more comfortable with that setup than the convoluted possession game that Sven was trying to force down their throats.

In the end, it cost them.

well some would do when someone is trying to get you sent off by haraunging(sp) the ref. Can't imagine Rooney and Ronaldo ever being mates either

Did you nsee Ronaldo's little headbutt at the the start, they were wondering if it was playful. Shearer wasn't so sure.

Its fair enough, particularly in a WC.

Though I can't imagine anyone being mates with Ronaldo

That being said, if I saw Rooney on the street without knowing he was a footballer (actually that wouldn't really make a difference) I'd throw him my wallet and run ;)

If I nwas a Man U fan I would refuse to cheer any goal involving Ronaldo. If I was an English Man U fan anyway.

damn right, they say he may be going to Real Madrid he is better off going there because Man U fans especially are never going to support him again.

Hehehe. The boy just did exactly what he does for Manure, except in a Portugal shirt. Never thought I'd hear of a hypocritical Manchester United fan. 8-)

Who would have thought the day would come when I would want Germany to win the WC. The long term issues with the Med countries and S. Americans continue to be true and ruin football for the honest man.
