^^ Thats false.

Half the Australian team has given an interview to the press in the last 1-2 weeks as well as several former Australian cricketers... solely commenting on the Border Gavaskar Trophy (and how hungry Australia are to win after not winning for 10 years).

What cricketers are doing with the media - which is part of their job - and what's going on with the general public here aren't coupled.

They all know which side their bread gets buttered, at least in terms of eyeballs and notoriety. Any India-related soundbytes are guaranteed to be picked up and drooled over by desis on Youtube and despo Indian news channels. Excuse the tangent but it's the same reason why so many international motorcycle channels on Youtube hype the new Royal Enfields. Improved bikes no doubt but hardly worth the attention if not for all the Indians who think RE is their father's company.
Pretty much, though I'd have expressed it more politely.

Professional cricket players looking forward to cricket, I'm shocked

There's 3 whole months of cricket to be played yet Australian cricketers seem preoccupied with BGT
a T20 series against Scotland has, like, 0.3% of the audience. How are you not getting this

I'm not even saying you're necessarily wrong but the argument you're using is a bad one

The cricket fans in Australia seem pretty pumped based on the ones I know. Going to Adelaide with a couple Aus friends.

That said, the impact is assyemtrical.

For Aus, if they lose, it’s pretty embarassing but has no real implications on their cricket legacy.

For India, if they win, it will be far and away the greatest accomplishment in Indian cricket history and will further cement the Kohli generation as the greatest.

Mate it’s all footy finals here til after the October long weekend. While we’re all interested in it as cricket nutters, most people won’t think about the upcoming summer til the AFL and NRL grand finals are done.

As for the players, I haven’t heard anything remotely controversial. They’ve all said they’re looking forward to it and it means a lot to them. I kind of don’t see the issue here tbh

Australia's batting has definitely not clicked in the 4 Tests since Warner retired so Indian bowlers must be licking their lips seeing this

Khawaja - 227 @ 32.42, hs 75
Smith - 171 @ 28.50, hs 91*
Labuschagne - 118 @ 16.85, hs 90
Green - 302 @ 50.33, hs 174*
Head - 188 @ 26.85, hs 119
Marsh - 156 @ 22.28, hs 80

It could be said Green has succeeded, but has he really? He has one 50+ score in those 4 Tests, in fact all 6 batsmen only have one 50+ score each (how rare is that over 4 tests)

Time to bring in a specialist opener and let the 5 middle order bats fight it out for the 4 spots. I think Marsh has reverted to 'mean' so I'd drop him but Head only gets the nod because of his whiteball exploits.

Note: this is based on Green being fit since he's just got a back injury

My 6th sense is telling me , this series will be decided by Travis Head and Rishabh Pant . If Travis Head dominates then Australia will win and if Rishabh Pant dominates then India have a chance.

Indian batting is not like its great either

Whatever it takes!!!
I think its very touch and go between the two batting line-ups and they are both pretty flawed. But Aus have to start as obvious favorites at home and given the churn in our side and the lack of A cricket for India since covid. :(

Don't need them to be when you have Jadeja and Ashwin hitting centuries
Without player like Pujara doing what he did, Australia start as clear favourites. Should be able to win 3-1/4-1 or at the bare minimum 3-2.

Any other result, it'd mean India would have played to potential and Australia well below potential.

At anytime in a country's history you'd be happy with the batsmen Australia have ... except right now and just before the BGT and Ashes. Haven't seen so many quality players out of sorts or form at the one time. Hope some can shake of their batting blues.

It's not just Pujara who'll be missed and account for India's loss this time.

AUS have 2 solid back-up AR quicks in Marsh and Green. Their big 3 quicks can stay fresh for longer and recover quicker. Plus MMarsh and Green make AUS batting stronger.
